We should be defending these statues being torn down, because there won't be an end to it. First they tear down Jackson, then they tear down Lee, then they tear down Columbus, Washington, Lincoln, every white man.
The media makes it clear they think all white men are racist and evil--that's the only justification they need to erase our history. This is why we're seeing streets named after BLM and perceived racist books being excluded from libraries. It won't end. Stop shrugging your shoulders at Confederate history being erased because "they were democrats!" and start fighting back against the rage mob.
In Virginia we do fight this and some other places are. There are laws about war memorials and many have original deeds and requirements. It's especially stupid for VA to do this, since the economy gets a huge amount from tourism. The many Confederate Battlefields here draw people from all over the world.

Yes, there is a Buchanan Co. It's a beautiful place in the mountains and people argue over whether it is "Buck-cannon" or Bew-cannon.
