No, the drivers get paid to get the merchandise there, the company with merchandise in the truck is the one that profits off of it.

A large portion of the industry is owner-operated though. This means the person that owns the truck has some negotiating power when it comes to loads. I know several owner-operators and brokers. It usually comes down to them two negotiating over the profits.
