Exactly this! I made the mistake of going to trucking school and signing with mega carrier. Nearly 80% of the people including myself quit within a couple months for the reasons you laid out. The pay they advertised was not even close to what i actually made. There was actually a class action lawsuit against this company for not paying trainees the equivalent of minimum wage during the 1 month of over the road training. Could go on about all the other lies and shady practices i saw during my short time there... If there is a shortage these companies have nobody to blame but their self. Luckily i found a maintenance job at the airport near me shortly after i left. EDIT: Almost forgot but worth noting.. My trainer backed into another truck at a rest stop the first night i was on the truck lol. Needless to say the training was a complete joke. They have no issues throwing someone into a truck with little to no training and hoping they figure it out on their own.

Garbage son, get in the waste industry. Been here 25 years, recession proof, good pay and benefits and home every night.

Pam was the company i worked for. In the same league as swift from what iv heard. Yeah man its rough and defiantly not for most people. If you're doing over the road maybe you could find a local driving job but you should defiantly look for a different type of job if its making you feel that way.

I work in a receiving office of a company that deals with 40k lb master coils. They shit I see and the questions I get from rookie drivers is enough to make your blood run cold. Needless to say, I tell everyone I know to give truckers a wide berth because you never know the quality of the person behind the wheel.
