There is no unity in the trucking community. If there was, they would have already called a nationwide strike to highlight IMHO, unconstitutional traffic stops by 'DOT police' from virtually every policing agency. Think about it.....what if you, driving a car, could be pulled over for no reason, no observable violation, searched, questioned, and detained? People would go apeshit. But hey, that happens to truckers who have violated no law every day, stopped just because they can be stopped.
If this kind of thing had happened when the Teamsters were a (pun intended driving force, I bet it would have been resisted. Stop delivering anything for a couple of weeks, and the general public would be begging for the police to stop harassing truckers for the non crime of driving down the road.
Not even that. I can tell you ambulances and fire services will not go into certain situations without police there.
Air ambulances require roads to be blocked off. That all takes police services.
I can tell you if someone dies because there wasn't enough police there is going to be one hell of a lawsuit like nothing before. Because in those cases it's easy for lawyers to place blame.

I am a fire fighter, can confirm. The other night went to a shooting. 7 police cars on scene before we even got there. We wouldn't have turned down the street otherwise. I don't care how many social workers showed up

I had been mulling the idea for a while but this recent Covid shit has shown me the light, I'm going to begin stockpiling food and supplies. I've already cleaned out a nice spot in my cellar and my goal is to have at least a 3 month supply for my entire family. It's hard right now because the stores near me still haven't recovered but as soon as they do you can bet your ass, I'm a hoarder from now on.

I never really thought of this way, the people looting and vandalizing cities are the ones with no jobs. The leverage the other side has is they control businesses, labor, the ground troops for the nation's economic infrastructure. You cannot ignore when these people protest.

One thing few people are pointing out is that cities that defund their PDs are heading toward a power vacuum. I don't know what will happen in the coming days, but it will be scarier than any protest the mobs can ever achieve. I get we're losing the ability to maintain control over them, the "war" as you say, but their own people are falling victim as well. It's a double sided loss as I see it.
