Hamiliton thought it was stupid to have amendments because the Constitution as written only told the US Government specifically what it could do so he did not see the danger.
How wise they were. They rightfully predicted that bad actors would try to turn the Constitution on its head and they were right. Now thanks to their wisdom we at least have very clear concise freedoms in the Bill or Rights.
I have met people who are so fucking stupid when I tell them something is unconstitutional they ask me to say where in the Constitution it says the government cannot do that. They have no concept that the Constitution was written to tell the government what it can do, not what it cannot.

No shit the ignorance is thick. The Brazilian constitution is 500 pages because it enumerates the citizens control not the gubmint.
