Saw an NBA player asking a Judge (how the fuck can a judge order a statue removed?) to remove a statue of Lee. Sane people need to stand up and say fuck off. It's history, we don't erase it because we don't like it.
That's the problem. State and local law enforcement is being ordered to stand down. Mayors and DAs are dropping charges. Laws are now selectively enforced against ideological opponents. We are in a state of war.
It's not a Confederate Statue. It's an American Statue. There was no Confederate States of America, there were just Americans tragically drawn against each other, each fighting for a different virtue but ensnared by a different vice. And thought I believe their vice to be worse, I can appreciate the virtues of the Southern Americans while also learning from their mistakes.
All American History must be Enshrined in the hearts and minds of every American. Only by knowing, and understanding, our past can we repeat the best of it while avoiding repeating our mistakes.
If they even think about defending that monument from leftists, by using deadly force, they will be Charlottesvilled. The FBI will have them locked up so quick. People on the right better not ever try to use deadly force for anything, suddenly law enforcement becomes very effective.

It's amazing that you find more respect for the Confederate soldier amongst the men who fought a brutal war to defeat them than you do among the soyboys of today.
This has always confused me. The Confederacy was pro-slavery, i.e. Democrats. So why are patriotic, pro 2A Americans (possibly Trump supporters) fighting to keep a monument to Democrats? I see it all the time on here, conservatives wanting to keep confederate statues up, while at the same time saying those statues represent evil, slave-owning, racist, Democrats.
It's ridiculous to say the statues symbolize slavery and racism. They were men of significance -- Confederate generals and statesmen. They fought a brutal war to preserve their way of life. They represent an important part of our history.
We generally agree now that slavery is wrong, but it's neither fair nor useful to judge the past from a modern perspective. Nor is it wise to erase our history because a few snowflakes got their feelings hurt by it.
Ancient Egyptians built an empire on slavery. Would you judge today's Egyptian people as harshly? Do their monuments likewise represent slavery and must be torn down? Same for Greeks, Romans... you name it. Where do you draw the line?
A healthy respect for our nation's history and its monuments isn't remotely like condoning slavery.

You'd think the Dems would revere Confederate statues because it's their parties history, but in reality it's the Dems currently tearing those statues down. Conservatives on the other hand have reason to dislike what Confederate statues stand for, yet they are the ones currently protecting the statues. Just seems ironic to me.

To unite both sides Lincoln declared ALL those who fought in the war American soldiers and to be honored as such. An important thing to do to avoid "us versus them." Granted, even General Lee didn't want a statue because because he feared it would cause division. If someone really respected Lee they wouldn't have built any statues of him in the first place.
What's next, disenterment of the Confederate War dead in our National cemeteries? As one poster noted, they were considered US war dead, but who knows what will happen in the weeks ahead!
