"The Diocese is discriminating against me because of my conservative political and religious views".

This is where we are at now, folks. Unbelievable.

The Leftist Inquisition. The Church is now run by an anti-pope.

If that was in the state of CA - that's actually illegal. Fresno is in CA. Political affiliations are a protected class under law.

According to the internets, the high school referenced in the letter is in Bakersfield, so still within the state. The diocese itself is entirely within California.

Easy settlement fuel then. Even with a lawyer split - it's a slam dunk.

I'm sorry, but this is over the top. What happened at work could be handled differently--sue if you're going to sue, but starting with your daughter's brain surgery is contemptible. That has NOTHING to do with your factual situation.

It matters because the "catholic" snakes who fired him knew this about his kid and threw him to the mob anyway! It adds to their shame.

Trumper007 13 points ago +13 / -0

I agree with you.

Trumper007 16 points ago +16 / -0

Its obviously the largest thing in his life right now. Firing him is atrocious and I can't believe you think otherwise

Mrs_Fonebone -26 points ago +1 / -27

When you are trying to make a case for being treated unjustly, you do so by pointing out the facts: you did this, then this happened, and you believe it was unfair because, for instance, you believe you have the right to free speech or other reasons. If he was Theology Chairman, he knows that is how reason works. By placing the information about his daughter first, he is clearly implying that fact should weigh into the evaluation of whether he was let go for valid reasons or not. Appeals to emotion are not arguments.Jobs in the real world don't work like that; they don't care. Everybody needs their money and everybody has problems;it gives you no exemptions in the real world.

Easy for a typical armchair "warrior" like you to say

-13
Mrs_Fonebone -13 points ago +1 / -14

You know nothing about me. But that you respond with an arrogant insult shows that you are of limited logic and can only reply in anger.

This man lost his job/career for speaking out in a religious educational institution where compassion for the hurting and afflicted is supposed to mean something. You are clearly too dull to be able to appreciate that point.

He stood for something right and did so publicly, to the point of wrongfully losing his job/career over it, and bad as it is to lose your job over this at all, this befell him at a particularly difficult time for his family.

I don't expect that you have ever suffered a similar offense, else you would likely have already marched out your self-righteous comparisons already. You have sacrificed nothing by your anonymously posting here. Your commentary is at best that of an arm chair warrior.

Worse that that, however, you have taken it upon yourself to post a snipe-fully dismissive commentary about this brave fellow traveler, and somehow delusionally pretend that you have done anything to advance the cause of conservatism on this board today. You haven't.

What I know about you is what you post. It's all you've got. Other than that you should probably speak to your doctor about your belly aching.

For your sake we hope what you have are only transient gas pains that afflict your thought processes today, and that your recent utterances on this thread are not a clinically significant sign of an inherent inclination to behave like a chronic gas bag.

Yes, you are technically correct.

No it's not over the top. The Left is over the top.

As another pointed out he is shaming them.

Tim Gordon wrote Rules for Retrogrades because he's tired of seeing the Right be the noble loser.

The Left has used Alinksy tactics to win. They're not reasonable but they work.

Countering the Left will take guts and confrontation, not strict avoidance of logical fallacy

Mrs_Fonebone -9 points ago +1 / -10

I would say that Alinksy tactics ONLY work when you have a corrupt majority of Dems and Libs in places of power, even the Courts. That is the best solution and Trump is working very hard to get there. Once the Dems lose the House, as they will, and RBG is off the Supreme Court, Alinsky will be irrelevant, laws will be enforced. Sometimes it is definitely reasonable to go to war but the minute we sink to their level, we've lost the high ground and are no better than they are.

Alinsky tactics work to gain power. They are not dependent on already having it.

Alinsky tactics will not become irrelevant if Republicans take the House. Because they work. They continued to work even when Republicans controlled the House, the Senate, and the Presidency.

Trump is the first Republican who doesn't get tripped up over 'When did you stop beating your wife' questions. But its not enough.

Yes, the good guys are at a disadvantage because we don't fight dirty. But we will have to fight and it will be messy.

I'm not clear on the 'best solution's that you reference but if it's waiting for the election that's not a solution that's putting all our eggs in one basket.

If everyone operated on a basis of logical consideration, what you say would be true. I wish we lived in a world where this was the case more often than not. Sadly, the public sees emotions and retains the impact far more than they do facts and logic.

If you haven't seen Scott Adam's take on "persuasion", you should give it a read. Timothy Gordon is using an emotional appeal, which in this day and age, will garner him more support than just the facts.

By firing him, the school has also terminated his health insurance. His daughter recovering from a recent major surgery, and needing rehab care, follow ups, scans and possibly more surgery if they were not successful in removing all tumors or they are fast growing and return, is very much relevant to this man’s situation.

It's a press statement, not a legal brief.
