Lowered standards are the cause of the low graduation rate. Black students who would not otherwise be admitted are allowed into an academic environment filled with students of other races who met higher standards, where they are eaten alive by the grading curve. They are set up to fail by the system. This is the closest thing I can think of to "systemic" racism, and it's a Democrat system. Surprise!
and many do not even graduate after they have taken a young freshman chance away from getting into the college of their choice.. Ive been witness to that..
Someone should bring this up to Scott Adams. He has a week deadline to provide evidence of systemic racism. This is an example and would be hilarious if he came out with this as the only example he found.
Black graduates are also the only group that collectively owes MORE than they took out.
So not only are blacks disproportionately being admitted to schools, they don't get degrees that are worth the cost, and can't even make the minimum payments.
This is why I really stopped giving a crap about college sports. Most of these guys can barely read and have no business being in college yet because we sell our souls for a game, we admit the dumbest (and some who are very troubled) people to play for our teams.
They’re given bogus grades and degrees while others are legitimately smarter and earn their degrees and then have to pay for them for decades.
WTF are you going to learn in a 30 minute interview that transcripts with years of information about academic results won't provide?
If one kid has an 'A' average, and one kid has a 'B' average: society should not stand for the 'B' kid to be rewarded because the interviewer thinks, "I like the cut of his jib". (Or even worse, "I feel sorry for him".)
School systems can be vastly different. An 'A' from a school that is desperately trying to increase their funding for next fiscal year, can mean much less than a 'B' from an ultra-competitive school with a 99% graduation rate. Grades alone don't mean everything.
I didn't even have an interview for my undergraduate degree university. I did have one for my graduate degree/college, but they could have learned just as much about me if I added a page or two to my admission's essay
Yes I did (in both cases). I actually went to undergrad school twice, too (first time in 2007 but dropped out, went back later), two different state universities, neither held interviews. First time, scholarship was merit based from HS grades and SAT scores, second time was a transfer scholarship from a 4.0 at community college
22 years in the IT game.
Around my way a middle aged white male should be a shoe in under a diversity quota (if indeed it is diversity they are looking for).
Be that as it may. I would rather the smartest smarts go to the smarts academies. No point in sending retards to university just to color the place up. Right? I mean thats crazy to me that just because theres too many of this looking person here something needs to be done to change that. Thats the crazy take.
Seems like the kid knows how to manage the system. Let him go let’s see how he does. One day he might Red pill a bunch of college kids, or be a Attorney General who actually drains a swamp.
When I went to high school we had a three tiered class system. Basically a class for retards, a class for normies and a class for the intellectuals. The issue? They didn’t apply grade modifiers when making comparisons between students - our valedictorian was from the lower end of the normie group when it came to taking classes. Basically took the easiest classes he could while we were taking 2 languages, college level math classes at the local university, that type of stuff. Dude absolutely gamed the system and was rewarded for doing so.
Well, I think military pays for college, doesn't it? If he doesn't want to do that, at least check out doing some stuff at community college, or getting credits in high school. You'll need to check carefully, because there are some community college classes that won't prepare him well, but if you can find good ones and make sure they transfer, that will really help keep costs down. Also, try to explore careers/majors while in high school - talk to someone in that field, see if he can shadow them for a day so he won't end up changing majors and wasting expensive credits. And, it goes without saying to chose a useful major that results in a real job. It's great that you're thinking of this and giving him some options. I wish someone had explained this sort of thing to me when I was in high school, I was just told that I needed a degree, any degree, in order to get a job, so I just went to college and had crippling loans over my head for years.
Programming is one of the most meritocratic fields left. He might not get into as good of a school and will have to work harder to prove himself but that's just a reality of life under Marxists. Bad black/female developers do get promoted but the good white males do as well, we just have to earn it.
I'd be more concerned that he's a fighting age male than whether or not he gets into the best college possible.
They do another style of fucking over American workers where they'll hire several Indian streetshitters to a position, pay them like $200-500k, then pay a white American programmer $60k and give him the work of all of the streetshitters to do.
Also Indians vote 90% left for life so I'm not going to pretend they're "based" while they fuck over our software industry and steal jobs (if someone decides to cry that I called them streetshitters).
encourage him to do some internships with it companies, if that's what he's interested in. connections there. also, research scholarships & grants...there's a gazillion out there. some are specific and can maybe be paired to your son's interests. don't hesitate to check for those that seem far out: scholarships for those of polish descent, grants for spelling bee winners. there's also the option to get the basics out of the way either thru ap classes (sounds like he's doing that) and community college for those he hasn't taken ap classes. work p/t take evening and vid classes. also, each university has a list of scholarships available which can be applied for when acceptance is proffered. good luck!
Tom Sowell has a good perspective on this. These students, while very smart in some cases, are admitted with lower entry thresholds, therefore making them the bottom of the class from the start. They don’t fail because of racism, they fail because they’re admitted when they should not be and would do very well in a school at a lower tier. Black/white/asian students with similar standardized test scores and weighted GPA’s perform virtually the same. It’s affirmative action that’s not only hurting asians and whites but also leadings to blacks failing at high rates. It’s a lose/lose policy.
Someone should bring this up to Scott Adams. He has a week deadline to provide evidence of systemic racism. This is an example and would be hilarious if he came out with this as the only example he found.
You must have missed his show 3 days ago where he said a true fair giving of reparations would be black people giving white people money because if they’re ancestors weren’t brought here by whites people they would be stuck in the shithole of Africa now, that systemic racism is fake, and that white privilege is a racist concept.
No, basically his point is that he thinks systemic racism is most likely is fake, and he’s allowing a week for someone to just give him one example of it.
I highly encourage you to watch his show from 3 days ago discussing this; it’s hilarious.
Ok... Well 7 generations ago my family were slaves (not that that matters). But if that really affects you so much why do you vote for the political party that enslaved them?
Can't speak for America but I know here in the Netherlands women and men have different chances of getting accepted into our top universities depending on the school and the program.
For example Girls have a much higher chance of getting in at the universities of Leiden and Utrecht, mostly Alpha universities that focus on languages, arts and history. At those universities there are also programs for women going into the Medical parts of the university. But I know that my University of Leiden does favor men when it comes to our Law faculty.
University of Wageningen, which is famous for it's studies of Water management, Food sciences and Sustainable Future programs, is mostly all male but it is also a tiny university famous for that one thing only.
Technical Universities like Delft, Eindhoven and Groningen were male dominated for years because they deal in hard sciences mostly, but more and more "female STEM programs are popping up. Which, in theory I applaud, but the important distinction is: girls should not be unfairly kept out based on their sex if their scores warrant entry. It is a whole different matter if things shift too far the other way and boys are being denied entry because of their sex if their grades warrant entry. It should be balanced and not biased either way. I'm all for women in hard science programs, as long as they are there for a reason, not for Ally-points.
University of Amsterdam.... Well I have no clue what they are doing aside form smoking weed but I genuinely dont care.
University or Rotterdam is somewhat of an equal split between male and female I guess.
Even worse for Asians. Asians are penalized even more than whites. Seem like systemic racism exists even against Asians. But, Asians don’t complain and are still pretty successful.
No, they filed a lawsuit against Harvard because of exactly this. Harvard tried to get it dismissed, but the courts said to let the case move forward. The Asian families hired one of the top law firms in the country.
It's even worse for Asians. People talk about not voting in their best interests - Asians got that covered.
I'd be totally cool with top schools being mostly Asian if that's how the numbers work out. You want the school to be matched to the student. If you get in when you are not as bright as the other students - it makes it harder to excel.
I wasn't admitted to ANY college. Later I got one to switch their decision. When I got in it was ENTIRELY foreigners in the program, and like 5% white. A lot of them (the foreigners) FAILED MISERABLY. They completely brought the whole curriculum down, rampant cheating etc. I ended up getting a 4.0
We need to stop government funding of the student loan program. We are sending our youth to Marxist indoctrination camps. It’s a moral crime to support the ideas that seek to destroy you.
And have they made much difference? If they have, why are people out protesting for the last few weeks? Oh yeah, cause I’m MN the only legal way we can get out and do anything is if we call it a protest. A couple days ago a bunch of bands had a “protest” musical festival for George Floyd.
Every year in D.C. the local news would run stories like, "Student (black of course) accepted to all 8 (or whatever) Ivy League colleges." Last year they had one where a girl (black of course) was accepted to 140 different colleges. She even had her application fees waived for a bunch of them. Just think of all the students that got wait listed for those schools because these assholes have to set some sort of record for college acceptances. Fuck them all to hell.
Applying to 140 colleges would be very costly, she must have had those application fees waived at pretty much all of them, because even just a few applications can start adding up into the hundreds. Also, how ridiculous to waste time applying to that many schools and not having the foresight to narrow down your choices to what might be the best fit.
If a white kid were accepted to all Ivy League colleges, maybe I’d be impressed, but yes, every time I see these stories it is a black kid. They have lower standards for their admittance and have probably been accepted at the expense of another student with higher test scores and gpa.
I saw a study last year with a chart that adjusted yearly admissions without affirmative action for one school, I think Harvard. Going by memory, there were about 40,000 applications, and around 2000 acceptances, and the numbers were something like 450 Asians and 350 Whites with better grades were passed over in favor of mostly Black and Hispanic students (there were other minority groups in there too, like Native Americans) due to affirmative action. Blacks were the primary beneficiaries of AA.
No wonder our society is getting dumber when we exclude our brightest minds from a top level education in the name of diversity.
I don't know. Maybe four times as many white students applied.
Fuck grades. They don't mean squat anyway.
Have a straight lottery. Put your name in the rotating barrel and if your name is selected. You're in.
Natural selection will determine the eventual outcome.
The stat I’ve been needing my whole life!!!! Thank you!!!! & they get college scholarships and are excepted w way worse scores at schools & jobs due to Obama’s diversity quota!!!!!!
EEOC in employment and educational credit preferences are evidence that the SYSTEM is NOT racist, the SYSTEM actually encourages and incentivizes hiring and admittance based on ability and credits companies and educational entities for how many minorities they are bringing into their establishment.
This isn't systemic racism this is the hard truth that the SYSTEM ITSELF is not racist at all. Its why I get so tired of hearing the term "systemic racism" because the system has been set up with laws since the late 60's to ensure that there is no advantage to systemic racism at all.
Yes happened to my son. Perfect grades, close to perfect sat score, stem engineering program A’s the whole time, extra curricular marshal arts, guitar for 5 years, scouts. Applied to university engineering school and was told their quota was met already, sorry.
It's called "College Athletics" -- this has been posted here several times. Blacks represent about 46.9% of the NCAA football teams, for instance. There's your answer. And they're used to get the sports wins--and then left, either not graduating or taking an average of 6 years to do so. A lucky few go on to pro careers.
Let me explain. I was a University Professor. We see the incoming applications. It's not grades and tests that get you in. (Plus you'll need a lot of data to support that claim) -- there have to be outside interests, sports, hobbies, preferably some form of volunteering etc. There are not just 2 criteria. So unless you factor in how many have those activities, for instance, athletic ability in the case we are talking about, then the matching GAP and SATs mean nothing.
Sure, then lets eliminate all bonuses for race and just use "athlete" status. If high tier colleges are 10% black now, what percent do you think we will have after we enact this standard?
They've already done studies on this, by the way. It would be 1-3%. Hence their justification for discrimination based on race.
Only if you think Affirmative Action is discriminating on the basis of athletic talent and not race. Or do you actualy believe the vast majority of black students are also athletes and received an athlete bonus rather than a race bonus to get into college.
That is infuriating, actually. They give full-ride scholarships to just about any athlete, but any other talent you have to pay out the nose. If they weren't throwing money at athletes, they could have some for scholarships for kids who are actually intelligent, or more scholarships for music/arts people. After all, most of the "athletes" are never going to be professional, why give them money but not a musical person? I knew a girl in college who was there on a full-ride rowing scholarship. She hadn't rowed before college, they just needed another body to fill the team and she didn't make the basketball team. I think she even got enough to cover living expenses. Rowing wasn't even a thing at this university, I didn't even know they had a team. I think they needed another girl's sport to even up numbers.
You are right. As a Freshman advisor, something we did in August, we met with the incoming Freshmen. We got the files and we could see what was circled or checked. The Liberal arts, including music, tend to be poor, while athletics is, of course, loaded with money. We saw kids who had no chance of graduating; also, many Presidents at Universities have the right to grant 25 "rubber stamps" -- mostly rich people's kids who were just going to fail out and have a bad experience. "Higher Education" for all it's PR is, ultimately, a business and a pretty crooked one. I hope your boy has a great college experience!
That is exactly the point. You, having appointed yourself defender of universities, have just supported the OP's point. He said that if X & Y have the same grades, then X has a better chance of admittance. Your point is that you have to take into account some arbitrary, BS, 100% subjective additional rating.
Which ranks higher in your "personal rating" ("personal rating" is the horseshit term that was used to support Harvard discriminating against Asian kids) system: science club or high school football; key club or bass fishing club; volunteer hours or taking care of a younger sibling while your single father works?
Where can I find the exact equations for each of these factors? Where can I find the admittance standards for each university for each of these "personal rating" standards.
You don't need "a lot of data" to support or disprove OP's claim. Just SAT/ACT scores vs admittance for all non-athletes by race/gender. Really not that difficult. If you pull this data you will find that Asian boys have the highest averages.
Crazy angry? You may disagree with her thoughts, but crazy angry is not a correct depiction of her statements. Just challenge her arguments where you think they're lacking.
that user has a history of taking out personal issues here, ranting about things not being acceptable to post based on her personal (leftist) ideals, gets new users banned or chases them away, attacks users personally & inappropriately, etc.
I would have sworn by the behavior patterns of the user that they were an autistic child with cluster B personality problems. I would also have guessed obese, due to the activity level on this site. It was nonstop posts for 12 straight hours the other day.
But, I guess that's not too far off from university professor.
I think you hit on an important point with a lot of posts I've seen recently. Posts like these have no citations, so if someone goes out spouting a stat like this without underatanding its merits, they're going to look like an idiot when they encounter someone who knows the subject matter. We need more citations for stuff like this.
You are right! Usually people will automatically ask for the source if it isn't there--that's the correct thing to ask--because otherwise, someone has to fact-check it so we don't look like idiots with fake news and random opinions all over the place.
Notice now that there is a sticky asking people to cite sources when stating facts. Apparently we were just a day ahead of the notion and absorbed the down votes. Net positive though!
In 2013, while 2.8% of full-time degree-pursuing undergraduates were black men, the group comprised 57% of college football teams, and 64% of men's basketball players.
Gosh, Dick, nothing to contribute, eh? Trolls are such bullies that when someone stands up to them it drives them nuts. They get obsessed. I live rent-free in your head and I grow stronger on your hate because it means you are angry and can't do anything about it but say rude things.
And black college graduation rates is around 28%.
It's a scam to grift black scholarship money and grants and inject it directly into colleges that give literally nothing back. Churn 'em and burn em'.
So that 28% is after the standards are lowered as well?
I remember once reading an article about a doctor that gave a baby bleach but I can no longer find it. Do you remember this?
Lowered standards are the cause of the low graduation rate. Black students who would not otherwise be admitted are allowed into an academic environment filled with students of other races who met higher standards, where they are eaten alive by the grading curve. They are set up to fail by the system. This is the closest thing I can think of to "systemic" racism, and it's a Democrat system. Surprise!

Fuck me, "Idiocracy" wasn't supposed to be prophetic...
They suddenly don't care about equality every single time white men are losing out.
For example many more white men commit suicide, but that is not taken as an example of systematic racism.
Do you have a source for this? I’d like to read more into this. I’m sure it’s very accurate
Now look into what schools do with college athletes (who are going to be disproportionately black).
Remove the race question from college applications, that will accomplish alot.
Remove names and race until admitted.
Basically that's my idea.
You need to redact addresses as well. And do the same with recommendation letters.
So no interviews? I don't think that would be practical.
You learn what their race, sex, politics, personal life, and other "blinded" items are, so right back to identity policies.
Did you have a scholarship though? I sincerely doubt any school will award a scholarship without interviewing the person.
Interesting, thanks for your testimony. Perhaps the interviews are reserved for borderline students or suspected underachievers (ahem).
Yes there would still be interviews, the race question would be removed for people that are signing applications before hand.

Why stop there? No company should have a diversity quota. I see it in every job application in tech.
22 years in the IT game. Around my way a middle aged white male should be a shoe in under a diversity quota (if indeed it is diversity they are looking for).
No federal money if you admit based on race.
That sounds good.
Oooo I don't mind that lol.

It’s not like universities are exactly institutions of higher learning anymore anyway.
They are literally institutions of lower learning in the majority of cases
They think uni is a human right, and they go "for the experience" and not for the practical reasons. I literally had someone tell me that.
I'd recommend some type of trade school if he can find one he's interested in.
I have nothing against trade schools, because truly, "not everyone should go to college".
But a kid with a 4.0 GPA in hard classes SHOULD go to college. He's the sort colleges were originally invented for.
Seems like the kid knows how to manage the system. Let him go let’s see how he does. One day he might Red pill a bunch of college kids, or be a Attorney General who actually drains a swamp.
You'd be surprised how many 4.0 GPA kids with hard classes in high school are literal idiots.
A lot of students are given "ups" to their GPA because the teachers, "like them".
Memorization and regurgitation makes for great lemmings though.
When I went to high school we had a three tiered class system. Basically a class for retards, a class for normies and a class for the intellectuals. The issue? I like the tiered system.
It was like that when I was in high school.
But they need to plug that loophole or apply some kind of algorithm to account for the difficulty in courses.
Just going to put him in debt and he won't be able to get a job due to diversity quotas and anti-white hiring practices.
Didn't say you had to be truthful.
Well, I think military pays for college, doesn't it? If he doesn't want to do that, at least check out doing some stuff at community college, or getting credits in high school. Nope. It's al Indian diversity hires and H1Bs now. If your name isn't Pajeet you aren't getting hired.
Also so many companies hire only contractors now who make significantly under industry standard.
They do another style of fucking over American workers where they'll hire several Indian streetshitters to a position, pay them like $200-500k, then pay a white American programmer $60k and give him the work of all of the streetshitters to do.

There are a lot, that's true.
But it's not worth giving up.
Some Americans do get hired, speaking anecdotally.
However, we really should address this problem -- it will blow up in our faces like outsourcing all our manufacturing to China.
encourage him to do some internships with it companies, if that's what he's interested in. connections there. also, research scholarships & grants...there's a gazillion out there. some are specific and can maybe be paired to your son's interests. don't hesitate to check for those that seem far out: scholarships for those of polish descent, grants for spelling bee winners. there's also the option to get the basics out of the way either thru ap classes (sounds like he's doing that) and community college for those he hasn't taken ap classes. work p/t take evening and vid classes. also, each university has a list of scholarships available which can be applied for when acceptance is proffered. good luck!

There is systematic racism against white people in the education system.
Also Asians, they are accepted even less than white people. Liberals only like the lazy minorities.
Imagine hospital ERs prioritizing patients by how ethnically rare they are. I’m somewhat surprised that hasn’t already started.
Won’t take long, given the path we have been on lately....
Someone should bring this up to Scott Adams. He has a week deadline to provide evidence of systemic racism. This is an example and would be hilarious if he came out with this as the only example he found.
He likely won't acknowledge it, which is a wise thing. He'd be branded as racist or something similar and would never hear the end of it.
You must have missed his show 3 days ago where he said a true fair giving of reparations would be black people giving white people money because if they’re ancestors weren’t brought here by whites people they would be stuck in the shithole of Africa now, that systemic racism is fake, and that white privilege is a racist concept.
He has no fucks left to give hahaha.
He has a week deadline? From who his boss?
Liberal City politics, Planned Parenthood and Affirmative Action. Boom, he's done.
No, basically his point is that he thinks systemic racism is most likely is fake, and he’s allowing a week for someone to just give him one example of it.
I highly encourage you to watch his show from 3 days ago discussing this; it’s hilarious.
Also your examples are great.
Now do MCAT scores and medical school!
Share that with Scott Adams on Twitter if you have Twitter. He is looking for someone to show him proof of systemic racism
This will make your blood boil.. how SAT scores are adjusted for blacks and Asians.

Good
This isn't their country and they vote 90% left. So I have zero sympathy.
It's actually 8-12x less likely if you consider most "whites" who get into the top schools are Jews.
I hope Sandra Day O'Connor rots in hell for inflicting this racism on our country for 25 years.
It is precisely systemic racism. By definition.

Chinese students are known for this. Just read an article yesterday.
Asians needing to rival God in intelligence to be admitted.
We need to stop government funding of the student loan program. We are sending our youth to Marxist indoctrination camps. It’s a moral crime to support the ideas that seek to destroy you.
Affirmative action laws were passed 50 years ago. The demographics have changed , so why havent they been removed???
And have they made much difference? If they have, why are people out protesting for the last few weeks? Oh yeah, cause I’m MN the only legal way we can get out and do anything is if we call it a protest. A couple days ago a bunch of bands had a “protest” musical festival for George Floyd.
Source for this statistic that he’s referencing?
5 days and no one can post the source...
Time to get me some of that affirmative action
Affirmative action is racist
I saw a study last year with a chart that adjusted yearly admissions without affirmative action for one school, I think Harvard. Going by memory, there were about 40,000 applications, and around 2000 acceptances, and the numbers were something like 450 Asians and 350 Whites with better grades were passed over in favor of mostly Black and Hispanic students (there were other minority groups in there too, like Native Americans) due to affirmative action. Blacks were the primary beneficiaries of AA.
No wonder our society is getting dumber when we exclude our brightest minds from a top level education in the name of diversity.
Affirmative action might have been justified 50 years ago. Should have been abolished by the year 2000 at the latest though
What do black study in university? Communism.
Where does this number come from 4 times less Likely ? Is something driving that. Need it for debate fuel.
opps, read this wrong!!!
This is so fucking dumb, You're also filtering for the smartest Whites so you're making what you see as the problem as worse.
I don't know. Maybe four times as many white students applied. Fuck grades. They don't mean squat anyway. Have a straight lottery. Put your name in the rotating barrel and if your name is selected. You're in.
Natural selection will determine the eventual outcome.
We have had Affirmative Action for 50 years and 3 generations
So with Asians, it is probably SIX times less likely that they will get into a top college with the same test scores and grades, compared to a black.
It's even worse than that, though. When you "graduate" from an all-black urban high school - your grades are pretty much worthless.
The administration forces grade inflation and forces "graduation". ( Witnessed it first-hand ).
Affirmative action is systemic racism.
God forbid you are Asian
The stat I’ve been needing my whole life!!!! Thank you!!!! & they get college scholarships and are excepted w way worse scores at schools & jobs due to Obama’s diversity quota!!!!!!
Hold up this is backward.
BUT THINK OF EVERYTHING THEY HAD TO OVERCOME
Are there any sources for this? I’d like to learn more
It's called "College Athletics" -- this has been posted here several times. Blacks represent about 46.9% of the NCAA football teams, for instance. There's your answer. And they're used to get the sports wins--and then left, either not graduating or taking an average of 6 years to do so. A lucky few go on to pro careers.
Not what the OP is talking about. The racial discrimination is worse towards Asian kids.

But, I guess that's not too far off from university professor.
well I guess every site needs one, so, why not. she also hasn't yet asked to speak to the manager, so I guess she needs to up her game
