Wendy’s is a franchise, and in that area, it’s very possible the franchise owner is black. A franchise pays the parent corp a small percent of profits - this won’t hurt Wendy’s or Dave Thomas, but they may have just taken the livelihood of a local black businessperson. A Wendy’s franchise is not cheap and owners only have one. A best the owner is insured and will only lose some a few weeks business, at worst, they’ve lost everything. If they rebuild, the should do so elsewhere.

Way to research...I am wrong. I knew single owners but it was when I was a kid - thinks change in 20 years.
You can still do it with smaller outfits but with the big nationals consolidation is the trend.
