Exactly. I lost a lot of respect when I personally heard 'I'm just doing my job'. Unlawful orders were enforced against me and many others for simply exercising our God given rights.

i mean, there is a time when a cop can (and should) refuse to to follow direct orders, such as when they are told to confiscate guns from law abiding citizens

Yes, cops are tasked with enforcing ridiculous laws, and yes, some cops are even assholes (like in every profession)
