Saw that. Makes me think there will never be a time when they will lift their collective moral character. If 60 years isn’t enough time, what would be?

I think it is a slow process getting there but it’s happening. It happens on an individual level not a collective level though. That ‘collective’ part is the problem. I grew up in the projects and success is measured differently there.

Success in the suburbs and rural area is along the lines of ‘keeping up with the joneses’ (which is also stupid but at least fairly harmless). Success in the hood is not a measure of your own value and character but how you can keep dragging those around you back down to your level. Have you even had that coworker that didn’t do a great job themselves but rather tried to appear better by knocking those around them down? Now imagine that on a city wide scale with no rules. There’s always someone out to get you; there’s always someone trying to take away from you or sabotage you to keep you at their level instead of trying to raise themselves up.

My boys are not black but I teach all of them the same contents on this video. It’s common sense, but kids nowadays are not taught these things because parents won’t talk about them. I did not know about having a white friend and the crazy girlfriend part and I’ll add them to my lecture!
