We’ll see how this plays out - if anything it should start a conversation around the need to balanced police - the danger police are in and looking at things from their perspective.
Most of the body cam footage of cops I have seen shows them as being super respectful and professional in difficult situations that are often on the edge of going terribly wrong - just like this one. It's amazing what they do on a daily basis. That being said, how much danger was this cop in when the guy was going in the opposite direction and shooting with a taser from a good distance away? It seems likely to me the cop reacted as if it was a gun, which justified deadly force. I think it's likely they have a policy about how to consider and treat the threat of a suspect getting control of an officer's taser - this officer was probably within that policy, but armchair quarter-backing will find him in violation because of the distance.
I am rarely comfortable with cops shooting at someone who is running away from them. But I have never been the one that people shot at, then ran away from, then ran back and shot at again, so I can get past my discomfort.
Spez:
Officer Tatum breaks down the legality, police department policy is probably in this officer's favor. And I would like to add that I will always give the benefit of the doubt to those who literally risk their lives to protect our society/civilization/culture/country.

How about people don't steal police officers weapons? Attack the police, get shot.
