All non-lethal options had been exhausted at that point. You can't pepper spray or club someone from that distance, and they've already exhibited intent to harm police officers. If someone has a knife, they get shot. If they have a stun gun, they get shot. If they have any kind of weapon, no matter how less-than-lethal it is, they are going to get shot if they exhibit the intent to use it against officers.

Two adult males couldn't even handle this guy. This wasn't one male and one female officer or two skinny and smaller male officers. This was two pretty thick adult male officers. One officer was on suspects back and one officer is wrestling with the guy for the stun gun from the front.
Now just imagine if it was one officer by himself. Or a female officer by herself. They would not stand a chance if this guy decided to go for the cops gun and shoot the cop. That's why cops are on edge whenever they encounter a someone in the street. For all the defund the police crowd, this is the type of encounter "social workers" will have to deal with and let's see how well they do when someone starts to attack them or resist.
If I was one of those cops and he started to struggle to get away I would have just let him go and have his car towed and a cop sent to his home address to scoop him up if he found his way back.
