An elected official CAN with a same-party Congress. The problem was the Dems (probably crookedly) holding on to the House. Trump is replacing judges etc. It's taken awhile with all the distractions, but the Dems are desperate.

The ONLY metric that anyone can point to that has improved in the US over time is GDP/jerbs. That's it.

People want to believe that voting someone into office will save them, because the idea that they'll be able to continue doing nothing themselves is comforting. This also explains the Q deal and why it's mostly boomers who believe it.
