All abuse welcome as well. It's not reddit, no one needs to be precious about their account. That's probably where that site started going downhill anyway.

I don't think the cops should have shot that guy and I know some of you don't either. It has the exact same vibe to me as someone getting cuffed for paddleboarding by themselves. Except more violent on both sides.

This dude was drunk, and obviously made a calculation in his brain that he couldn't go back to jail. I bet he had some priors that would have fucked him over.

They fucking shot him in the back. They knew it was a taser and not a gun. And they shot a guy in the back.

Fuck that cop.

He should have tried not being a criminal. Sorry but I really won't lose sleep about yet another thug that's not out on the streets anymore committing crime.

To be honest, I don't really care... He wrestled a cop and stole a weapon, looks like another career criminal. I wasn't there but seems like lethal force was in order. I'm more concerned cops were arresting innocent people legally operating their store/business or leaving their house a few weeks ago without a concern.

Fuck that thug. He got exactly what he deserved. Now another cops life is ruined because the thug doesnt want to play by the same rules that I have to play by.

Honestly, I can't be bothered to look at these videos, I'm probably the only person on earth that hasn't watched the Floyd tape. Especially because it's in fashion to turn an anecdote into fact, as if one person speaks for a group. In a country of 350 million, things are going to happen.

I just wanted to give OP a cheers for having the balls to respectfully disagree with the consensus of the community.

This is why its so hard to be a cop. Frankly I think he wanted to leave him sleeping in the lot but likely decided against it because he would have drove home drunk in which case the officer would have been responsible.

Ask the cop now if he wishes he shot him. Not a chance. But that doesn't mean you can prosecute the cop in that instance but thats likely what will happen having seen the DA (D) on CNN .

Cops are going to be leaving their jobs in droves.

Why the fuck do cops not live in shithole crime ridden communities? Because they wouldn't serve.

I somewhat agree. If, in fact, they followed protocol and did as trained, then those protocols need reexamined. However, they exist for a reason; the possible outcomes are too numerous to calculate, had they not shot him. I watched the entire body cam and it confounds me that Brooks did what he did. What else could he have done to avoid arrest? Plenty of historical examples of what others have done to evade arrest...

Stop breaking the law asshole!

He was in possession of a potentially lethal stolen weapon, plus if you cant catch an armed criminal by chasing them you have to shoot them.

He has "temporarily" lost his job, he has a huge advantage when he Sues them for wrongful termination. The video evidence and etc have shown them having great restraint with this guy, UNTIL he decided to run, fight, and take a weapon, non lethal or not, all the cop has to say is he took my weapon, in the heat of the moment I'm not waiting to find out if it's a taser or sidearm.

You’re a pussy and should focus on shit that matters and not criminals being dispatched after assaulting and stealing a deadly weapon from a cop. Less lethal does not mean no chance of being lethal. We are a nation of laws not a nation of letting criminals run free into the community with stolen police weapons because they are black.

I think it’s too difficult to think about the situation after the fact when it’s a split second decision in real time. You just don’t know what could have happened. Tazer a cop, leave them immobilized and grab the gun. It’s unfortunate, but where’s the personal responsibility for putting yourself on the wrong side of multiple decisions.

The fucker played a series of stupid games, and won the ultimate stupid prize.

God fucking damnit I can't go to a fucking restaurant but we're supposed to be super lenient to total pricks like this. Fuck this, and fuck you.

I think the protocol/procedure was what they followed through with, but my perspective is, is that he shouldn’t have been killed when the premise was a guy being drunk. I think they need to be armed with rubber bullets instead of a taser? But obviously still be armed with a real gun too. The victim shouldn’t have resisted arrest, and shouldn’t have attacked the cops, so the outcome that happened is what he asked for. But to be shot multiple times isn’t justified to me. They had his car, they had is information, they could have arrested him later on with more cops as support.

EDIT: stop swearing and cussing and acting emotional like women. I’m glad you people with the anger and hatred you have inside you aren’t cops!

The 'premise' was felony assault on 2 police officers. The guy wasn't concerned when he assaulted his 2 kids either and got a 7 year sentence for it. Martyr my ass. Fucking idiot should have been arrested and all would have been well but he was a fucking criminal. Ruined his life, his families lives and likely the lives of the 2 officers. All because he was a fucking dick. Fuck him it was all within his ability to go home safely. Especially if he had just driven off.

If he went home and waited for them. Better chance that he carjacks someone and continues his escape.
