A post made earlier today called for sources on our news posts: https://thedonald.win/p/FzBGfiE4/to-all-td-stop-posting-informati/c/
This is really just an inconvenient band-aid for the problem though. We can fix this permanently because this is OUR SITE.
Can we not have another entry for when we make image, text, or link posts called 'Source'? Then not only can our memes cause mass redpilling even to the newcomers, they can be proven immediately to any of the shills who come here to cause trouble.
Instead of copycatting, why can't we be better and more specified for our nature as a political forum?
As a guy who works, I want to be able to MAGA efficiently.
good thought of immediate sauce on posts
well a link post IS the source
a text post you can put your souce in easily
and a meme post isnt always the kind that needs a sauce, sometimes they are other types of memes for which a sauce entry would be moot.
What do you envision?
^^this.
I agree. We'd need at least the image post to have a non-mandatory field to throw in a link to your source. It'd help eliminate the unsourced screen caps, and help when people make image compilations showing leftist retardism/hypocrisy. Maybe a section for multiple links.
Also, not just "source" meaning where you "Red-It" , but the source that source cites. Way too many reports-linking reports - linking reports. Just go to the source. Many have been filtered and re-interpreted by bloggers before it gets here, which distorts the data. Give raw data; teach folks to come to put the effort in to understand legalese, read primary data, and come to their OWN conclusions.
I was saving my own ideas for the next mod sticky site suggestion post, but I might as well chime in since this post has gotten traction.
I would like to suggest three possible site improvements:
As OP suggested, all posts should be double link posts. You should have one link for media (image, video, etc) and one for source. Text only posts could just leave them both blank.
The first comment made on any thread by the submitter should be stickied. This might be a much easier-to-implement solution. Many times submitters are actually doing this, providing a source link in a comment in their thread, those posts often just get buried because not everyone is interested. Having a sticky would be a great place to put archive links in case we don't want to provide free traffic to anti-Trump sites or in case something is deleted.
Auto-mirror of submitted media. This one is much more complicated, but for example there's a subreddit r/LiveStreamFail that used to have all their submitted links get censored immediately by people who got caught doing something bad. So the subreddit created their own site livestreamfails.com and a bot to automatically mirror every submission. Now if someone says the n-word on their stream, they can't just delete the clip on Twitch to cover it up.
TheDonald.Win could possibly make a bot to mirror at least external images on their own internal image host. Over time, this funcionality could submit links to sites like archive.is and offer that as an automatic bot sticky in case the original gets taken down. Long term, mirroring video clips on say BitChute would be fantastic.
Final suggestion: Please put an automatic bot message for any YouTube link alerting people to the fact that YouTube is blocking embeds for this site. So many comments about YouTube submissions being deleted when all you have to do is open the link in a new tab (on youtube.com itself) and it plays fine. Just a nice educational alert.
You might need to do this for Twitter video links as well as I'm starting to see more and more that won't play as an embed and have to be opened in a new tab.
Good idea
Also, anybody who posts a screenshot of a social media comment or news article without providing a link should be exiled to Chaz.
I just assume any shot of Social Media without a link is a shitpost. If you want any credibility link to source.
This, thank you I agree.
