The only reason the DS did this practically just before the election is because

  1. they know they will lose the presidency, again
  2. they know they won’t gain seats in the senate
  3. they may lose the house

That’s the only reasons. They couldn’t wait for November because this was their best shot. Everyone knew they had nothing. No case, no votes. Sad!
