OK, so you live on TX side. We don't have armadillos here, I have never had the pleasure, except I did see one in Florida once. Kind of a shock to see something you never saw before. I think you're right. They have the same issues as possums -- wandering out in traffic and . . . sad.
And you're lucky there is racial harmony and many people have just stayed that way. I HOPE. I don't see much going on here ... so it would be a shock and sad if people suddenly started taking sides cuz TV says to do it, because this imho was orchestrated. I I hope somehow everyone figures it out - what is really going on. But, I read something yesterday by Mark Twain. Said, "It's easier to be fooled than convince people they've been fooled". That seems apparent at the moment. And this all does worry me as far as relocating (but all that you said makes me a bit less worried as far as moving and concerns about weather even, etc.) and esp. our country's future. This is all so wrong.
I just wish people knew no one I ever heard of wakes up in the morning thinking about race. It is all propaganda. Most people treat others the same way they are treated. All people don't become tight friends w/ same race people. Friendship does not happen because of color.
So, if we go anywhere near your area on the way East (we have to plan this more strategically than before) as we have to decide the most logical route due to all the crazy now -- will message -- and see if we are anywhere close enough and if it is ok to stop and see your garden for a minute. Relatives here, most people I run into, all are def not libs. More propaganda abt this state. If they hadn't been allowed right under our noses (all over this country) to rig & manipulate the election process/voting - things would be a lot different. People are 100% more aware of what really is happening now tho, thx to the last 4+years.
Just FYI, what we always do on our road trips is to completely avoid cities, Interstates, etc. whenever we can.
We take State Highways as much as is humanly possible. Scenery is better, people are nicer; we try to hit all the little historic towns & villages etc.
Takes longer, naturally, but we take that into acct and it's more fun for us. Just something to consider if you're concerned about riots - I mean, uh, 'peaceful protests!' lol
Y'all come on, we'll feed you & let you rest up if we're here & not in FL or camping or whatever. We have several family trips tentatively planned this summer but who knows if or when they'll happen. China Plague has some areas shut down & I leave it up to my grown children to tell me what I'm doing and where I'm going lol.
Wow, thank you so much. Not trying to foist myself on you or take advantage at a!!!!! Just wanted to see your garden, get tips maybe, get out of the car and see how it "feels" in different areas of the country. Have not taken a lot of road trips, EVER. Up and down California a few times. Oregon a few. Not going there tho!!!!
The way things are, who knows what we'll decide. Technically, we could get to a certain state and there be a lock down of some sort . . . I don't want to think at all negative, but at this point, you never know anything for sure. Just want to get as good of a look as I can at various parts of country we go thru, see what we think. Still feel orig. choice is good. My grandmother used to drive back and forth across the country when I was a kid, as her kids were spread out everywhere. She had no problems, so if she could do it . . .
So, hoping for the best, and those are GREAT suggestions. Thx!! Was planning to stay southerly, but avoid Albuquerque, and beyond that, nothing concrete yet.
I do have a couple of old friends from here (he transferred, worked for SW Airlines and ended up in Springfield, MO). So maybe will go that way on final approach. Idk though. I have another good, old friend in Naples, FL, but I doubt we will go there this time, and then back to where we are headed. Some other time! Will be close enough to drive to see both friends tho after I move, which is definitely very difficult at present.
Oh, the mom raccoon came by last night. First time, that I saw anyway, she's had her new litter and brought them, too. 3 this time. The garage was open a few inches and they came in, she left two behind for 1/2 an hour or so for some reason, then came back and got them. We can't figure out why they do that. She has done it before w/ other litters, left them overnight even!! Come back to get them. Teaching them to "stay" and hide and be quiet? IDK. They did, and were. And she did come back. They are smart.
Will be in touch, regardless, whatever we do, & let you know how it works out! Fingers crossed. Praying. Thx again!
If you head towards TX via around Silver City & Carlsbad and drive straight across TX in line with Abilene, Ft. Worth, Dallas you could come here first then go up to your friend ~ or, when you leave the West coast head a bit more North straight to Springfield, MO. Then, after that you could literally come straight South to drop in here. Altho it'd be a long drive it wouldn't be brutal.
It's so cute that your coon comes in & out of your garage with babies. You won't believe it but in a small town near me there's an old Black guy who sells fish & game he bags...one of his homemade signs advertises alligator gar (a basically inedible fish out the bayou) and coon. Not sure, but I think he'll even cook it for you. Blecch. Don't get me wrong, I'd not pass it up if I were literally starving - but since I'm not, I'll pass lol.
You'll enjoy your drive across this beautiful country of ours once you get a couple days under your belt! It's like no other place in the world. And remember there are more good and kind people in America than not - don't let the MSM tell you any different! We travel all the time, and have never had a problem : )

Absolutely, do msg me if you're passing thru!
