It was very cordial until the arrest, I wonder if it would have been different if the police made the guy call someone he knew to come pick him up. I know they aren’t supposed to be a charity case but that’s the only thing I would’ve done differently.
Mind-boggling that's you would entertain that idea. He failed a sobriety test. Police are there to enforce the law. He should have made that very decision to call that very 'someone' to pick him up, before, before he got in his car and drove intoxicated. He could have killed someone, where is the mercy in that. Why award his bad choices?
You know he was released on probation on a 7 year sentence because Corona virus? For abusing his daughter? He was arrested for that in the past as well.
Funny how everyone is leaving this little tidbit out. That's why he ran. He knew that he's going back to jail as soon as he gets processed in the station. The way he acted was like no way am I going back to jail. And sure enough, he ain't. He's gonna rot in hell now. That baby of his gets to live without the threat of an abusive father
He was very polite and responsive, police didn't touch him.... Until he realized he's not getting away. Moron even asked the cops to let him drive drunk down the street. Wanted to walk too. He clearly didn't want to get cuffed.
Exactly. Most people who talk all this shit haven't watched the video of the entire interaction, or haven't focused on all the detail. The cops were super professional, and he knew what was up. Even more, whenever you have a perp not wanting to get cuffed like that, cops always know there's more going on. All the more reason to investigate further. Their judgement was on point!
The issue with asking a friend to pick him up, is that it assumes his friends haven't been drinking either. They may be putting other lives at risk by asking the friend to get into a vehicle.
In the first body cam, after asking the guy to pull into a parking spot, the junior cop says outloud in his car "Do I really want to deal with this guy?," and stops himself from filing. He goes back to Rayshards car, but the guy is asleep for the third time now. He had a good chance of getting off with charity but ruined it...
It's all just excuses for people who are looking to make themselves feel better with everything that's going on right now.
The cops handled the stop perfectly. The cop clearly wasn't trying to get the guy in trouble or anything. Like you said, the guy had soooooo many chances to come out of this unscathe

drunk driver kills 20 year old woman
Maybe we should call a friend or family to pick him up?

The poor little girl is now safe.
