This couldn’t be more true. What people need to understand is that it only works if everyone participates. When you encounter a cop, your first thought should be that this ISNT the place to fight this. That doesn’t mean you can’t ask questions and make statements... but you fight it in court. If everyone always cooperated with police, then it would be much easier distinguishing criminal suspects with innocent people. When you refuse to cooperate or are belligerent, you project the image of being suspect of something and requiring further investigation. Fight it in court. I understand there are circumstances where at that point, corrupt cops can take advantage of situations and in those cases I can only say that keeping a level head and cooperating can only help the situation. But we need people to cooperate with police for the concept of policing to work. I spent a good part of my life dodging cops and doing shitty things as a kid... and being my age now, and seeing what I’ve seen.... the wisdom guides me to defending those who defend us... because I think we take for granted the lack of true chaos we’ve enjoyed for Well beyond my whole life. Without police, that would have never been possible.
