I'm not Jewish, but your answer and your conservative Rabbi's answer remind me of the good real-world biblical advice handed down to me growing up as a Christian.

I've never been able to stand the mystics in the church. It always seems to boil down to social control through religion and that's the point where I check out.

Every once in a while there's some interesting stuff that comes through. Like... there's a Rabbi online who was secular but become very religious after a near-death experience and his story is incredible. There's also another one I sometimes listen to online who has some of those "Ghost and demon" stories. Don't know how credible they are, but it's interesting.

But yeah, when you get too far out there in the mysticism ... maybe there's something there, but it's going to be beyond most people. It's certainly beyond me!
