I don't know where you got this misinformation. I am the pharmacist who fills (edit: some of) his prescriptions, and he does not and did not work in NYC, he works in Monroe, NY. It's about 40 57 miles north of the city. (It is a Hasidic community, though.)

His studies were done in NYC, per his own words. He himself was quarantined due to cancer; he worked remotely via telemedicine. He could very well have stayed in his hometown and continued his practice, while doing his study in NYC like he said.
