There is something extremely fishy about Democrats being southern and racist in the early years around civil war, then suddenly it's Republicans who are southern and racist and Democrats are northern and "not racist".

Something beyond "muh party switch". History is written by the victors. What explains the most information? Ockams razor. What if the south won?
