If I could find my Eagle badge I’d probably send it back in to them. The scouts we all knew have been destroyed. Race was never an issue at any scouting function I went to across the south. Current leadership is a disgrace. I guess their next step is to stop supporting the flag because its oppressive. It’s up to us to embody the ideals moving forward and instill them in our children.
The Mormon community is pretty hard core and requires a lot of you so it might not be the greatest if all you are really looking for is Scouting type stimulation. In fact I know that some Mormons are beginning to sour on the idea of Boy Scouts. But as you know they will probably just be substituted (if ever) by basic young men's type of things.
As of last year the Mormons have fully divested from the boy scouts due to their policy choices.
They funded nearly 30% of annual dues plus friends of scouting drives as well as serving as charter organizations for troops. Many other churches have done the same. This was a very poor decision by BSA.
The Mormon church now runs a youth program and funds similar youth activities in place of scouts.
I can confirm. In my district they were the also the most active. One church troop putting out as many Eagles as the next 3 highest combined. With them and the Baptists gone, and alienating all the older supporters, there just is not much left

I’m a Scoutmaster and an Eagle Scout and all of my boys are awesome. But ever since the Scouts allowed girls in this one Patrol of girls has been winning the camporees. Again, they aren’t better, they are simply more focused at a younger age.

I am an Eagle scout who aged out several years ago, and came through while this bullshit was first starting. In my experience, most of the PC bs comes down from council. Most of the leaders in my troop were cops/firemen/EMTs or construction workers, who wanted to keep things sane, but had to cave on female leaders in order to not get in trouble at the council level.

They absolutely can. When I became an Eagle Scout in 2006, there was a list of merit badges you were required to have before you were eligible to advance to that rank. If the organization adds the Soyboy Badge to that list, you can't become an Eagle Scout without it.
There are badges called "Eagle Required". You must earn these badges to get the Rank of Eagle. I've known kids who were 1 badge away and couldn't get it done in time who had completed their project, had all their service hours, had TONS of merit badges and leadership positions but turned 18. BOOM no Eagle Scout. So if they add BLM to Eagle Required then kids will not be able to rank w/o it.
Seems to ‘earn’ it they just have to take a pledge...I see your point, but mine was just that it’s not accomplishment and work - anyone can ‘take a knee’ just to get a prize or make people happy. It’s meaningless.

Life Scout here (didn't quite make Eagle). I was pretty annoyed after all the drama they had few years back (allowing girls and other non-male genders into scouts).
But I figured it would die down after a while, and girls wouldn't want to join boy scouts anyways. I still planned to enroll my two sons in scouts once they were old enough.
This however is the last straw. I won't be enrolling my kids in scouts anymore.

Try to get your Eagle before they come out with the badge requirements. You should have about a year before the new requirements become mandatory, and when they do you should be able to finish your next rank with the old requirements, based on the precedent of when they changed the ranks a few years ago. Try to get life ASAP if you aren't already.
We quit scouting long before this. It had already just gotten to the point where I was having to explain SO MUCH of what the Scouts were doing and professing in a way that my kids could understand it. It went on as long as it did out of a misplaced sense of loyalty I suppose, but it was obvious that loyalty was very one-sided. You either have principles that you believe in or you don't. This latest move doesn't surprise me and honestly it doesn't even sadden me. The scouts are dead to me.

I am both an eagle and OA member as well...my kids will never be in scouts. I don't even list Eagle Scout on my resume any more.

They absolutely can. When I became an Eagle Scout in 2006, there was a list of merit badges you were required to have before you were eligible to advance to that rank. If the organization adds the Soyboy Badge to that list, you can't become an Eagle Scout without it.

There are badges called "Eagle Required". You must earn these badges to get the Rank of Eagle. I've known kids who were 1 badge away and couldn't get it done in time who had completed their project, had all their service hours, had TONS of merit badges and leadership positions but turned 18. BOOM no Eagle Scout. So if they add BLM to Eagle Required then kids will not be able to rank w/o it.

Seems to ‘earn’ it they just have to take a pledge...I see your point, but mine was just that it’s not accomplishment and work - anyone can ‘take a knee’ just to get a prize or make people happy. It’s meaningless.

Life Scout here (didn't quite make Eagle). I was pretty annoyed after all the drama they had few years back (allowing girls and other non-male genders into scouts).
But I figured it would die down after a while, and girls wouldn't want to join boy scouts anyways. I still planned to enroll my two sons in scouts once they were old enough.
This however is the last straw. I won't be enrolling my kids in scouts anymore.

The BSA is a trust of 100 years of donated labor, land, and money. Starting all over may be necessary, but why should looters get first dibs? For example, Philmont should return to the Phillips estate for breaking their contract.

So like, you have to bring your "best black friend" to a scout meeting? How exactly do you prove you are inclusive? How do you prove what's in your heart? What about young black boys in the scouts? Do they have to show that they have a white friend? Or do they get the badge for existing? Are they automatically "inclusive" because they have black skin? Why are they teaching scouts that you should only judge the quality of a person by the color of their skin. This sounds racist. I'm confused at what they are trying to achieve here.

Hopefully there is some age threshold that prevents certain ages from needing the badge, cuz I'm in the program and you'll find me dead on the floor before doing this shit.
Try to get your Eagle before they come out with the badge requirements. You should have about a year before the new requirements become mandatory, and when they do you should be able to finish your next rank with the old requirements, based on the precedent of when they changed the ranks a few years ago. Try to get life ASAP if you aren't already.

We quit scouting long before this. It had already just gotten to the point where I was having to explain SO MUCH of what the Scouts were doing and professing in a way that my kids could understand it. It went on as long as it did out of a misplaced sense of loyalty I suppose, but it was obvious that loyalty was very one-sided. You either have principles that you believe in or you don't. This latest move doesn't surprise me and honestly it doesn't even sadden me. The scouts are dead to me.
