Really just use Firefox, DuckDuckGo, and don't sign up for social media sites. If you must signup (group, committee, etc.) don't post anything. it's really simple as that. People aren't getting fired or going to court for their search history, it's the post they made on Facebook when they were 17. The other extreme is fake accounts, fake email addresses, burner phones, and VPN browsing.
Whatever they dig up, whatever they accuse you of, whatever mud they throw at you, never, NEVER apologize. It's a free country, we are free to say what we want. Being able to clear your internet presence even a little more is a difficult feat, but it is worth nothing if you bow down in the end. Look at the things you've written. Is it worse than murder to say those things? If not, you're already on the moral high ground with regards to the opposition.
And don't forget, its not just the things that are offensive right now, its the things that could be construed as offensive at any point in the future. It is your life, it is what made you into the responsible person you are today, and you should not appease people who would not vote for you anyway.
Note that, care of The Completely Incompetent But Scandal-Free ODawg Disministration Office of Personnel Management, the security clearance information for cleared Govies and Contractors is now in the hands of the CCP. Let's just mix those together and see what kinda blackmail can be cooked up.

Unfortunately there is no "erasing everything" with the internet. You can delete your social media, clear browsing history, etc...but the internet always remembers. There are archives of almost everything. As someone else here said, if they dig something up don't apologize. From now on, don't use social media and get a better browser, one that values privacy.

Best of luck.
If Google has it, then the CCP has it. If Apple has it, then the CCP has it. The new normal.
