Same thing happened in Wilmington, DE with a Columbus and a Caesar Rodney statue. In Wilmington, the Governor announced the removal as it was happening and said that he’s storing them until the public can decide what to do. I actually think this was a smart move, as they weren’t defaced.
I think it’s past time that the rest of us start petitions in our respective cities to remove all MLK statues and to rename MLK Boulevards because of King’s Misogyny. Fight fire with fire.
