Its hard to know what to do in these areas. I think removing ALL gun restrictions would be a good start. The criminals already have guns its the law abiding citizens who are defenseless.
End drug/prostitution laws, they clearly arent working and If people have legal recourse if they are robbed/attacked they are less likely to turn to gangs.
This is a crazy idea but maybe mandatory time spent in law enforcement? In korea they have mandatory time in the army so its not completely unheard of. If everyone in the community has spent some time in law enforcement then they will gain some understanding of the challenges cops face. They won't hate/distrust cops as much, and it will be people from their neighborhoods enforcing laws.
As much as I do think we need police reform I also think we need citizen reform. How many people even know their rights? Understand how the government functions? If you asked people to name their senators, congressman, mayor, city council etc, what percentage would know? We waste the time they are in school teaching crap they will never need but this stuff that affects their entire lives is ignored.
