Not only were testing facilities providing tests by appointment only, you had to vetted by a doctor and approved to be able to schedule an appoint.

Am in AZ. Talked with a nurse from Surprise, AZ, which is a community west of Greater Phoenix. Huge aging population. I asked her how hard it was to be working in this Covid atmosphere. She just shrugged and said she didn't know of anyone who had it. They had no one in the hospital with it. And she hadn't heard of anyone who had died.
Now CBS and CNN are screaming that "due to AZ lifting the lockdown, hospitals are filled to the brim and no more room!" So asked neighbor who works at a hospital. Nope.

I reside in a big city and live near one of these sites and walk past it almost every day. There are very rarely any cars in line to be tested. Most of the time it's just people in hazmat gear standing around.
Same deal in Australia. The site I live near had a modest line (maybe 15 cars) on the day it opened but I've never seen anyone in line since then. It's a similar situation at the local hospital testing clinic. 100% different to the media depiction of the situation.
We had a temporary test site in our town that was also totally empty.

I work at a large university that's surprisingly apolitical compared to most. However, we have a woke university president (kind of a Mitt Romney type) who recently installed a diversity and inclusion VP who's hell-bent on changing things.
In a recent town hall, the protests (i.e., riots) were discussed. Only BLM-supporting employees made comments. The vast majority of the university workforce stayed silent. No contrary opinions were voiced. The victims of the riots were not brought up. Sadly, we were too cowardly to speak up for fear of losing our jobs. Stay strong, pedes. We truly are the silent majority, but we need to wake up soon!
