The concern isn’t so much that he’s doing something, it’s that he’s doing this in response to the left’s looting, riots, murders, destruction, insurrection... the concern is it enables all of that criminality as a “legitimate” means of advocacy in what’s supposed to be a civil society.

This is really the case and he knows it. Why not take the opportunity to move the pieces in your favor though? Its his move and not moving is going to be noted as a move as well. You're assuming his Executive Order addresses "systemic racism". It's just as likely to be intended to address policies that improve police training, community involvement, and other legitimate areas where improvements can be made.
I'm with you on this. BLM is a bullshit movement and the claims they make of systemic racism are both over-inflated and the fault of their Democrat masters. But any fool can see there are issues in the justice system at every level that need to be reformed: police training, making sure bad apples get fired, prosecutorial misconduct, bad judges, a broken penal system. All of those issues transcend race but they hit the black community hardest—mostly for reasons that are the fault of a damaged culture celebrating thugs and encouraging broken families, but still.

I live with a family of police who could see some positives come from different types of training being available for recruits or any officers really that would want to recieve more certs to make them even more diverse. POTUS already said we're not DEFUNDING any thing in fact we will increase funds.

Reforms are fine, i personally have had many criticisms of the police for decades now (mainly militarization of police) so i do think they are needed in a way but where i draw the line is if any of this is blamed on systemic racism. That's pandering to the mob in my opinion. Cops need some reforms and black families need reform and need to be re-formed and that has nothing to do with systemic racism.

I live with a family of police who could see some positives come from different types of training being available for recruits or any officers really that would want to recieve more certs to make them even more diverse. In Chicago we do not have the money or man power to do these things so if they work out a way to fund these things it wouldn't be a bad thing. Also not required just available. POTUS already said we're not DEFUNDING any thing in fact we will increase funds.

Police are local/municipal, not federal. We, and the Constitution, are able a small FEDERAL government, with the majority of control ceded to the States and local towns/cities.

You can look up their stats, see how thoroughly they're trained in deescalation, firearms qualification (lots of police forces only qualify ONCE a year), first aid, various psychological exams, etc.

I was driving around rural New England a couple of autumns ago and there were flags all over the place. So much that I imagined any lefty from my shithole city would be having panic attacks and come home with "PTSD". There are rural areas out here on the west coast too but I've just never seen that many flags. It was great. When we got home, a mid high-rise I can see from my apartment had just installed a flag on their roof while we were gone lol.

I am in a position that I can work remotely, so losing my hard earned college degree isn't a problem. If I were in position such as yours, I would start by choosing where you'd like to move. What you consider city is probably very different than what I would consider city, so there are probably some good options for you to move, and still keep your job, or something similar to it.
Post Falls or Idaho Falls may be good options. I would avoid Boise, it's turning blue fast, and Twin Falls is happily importing Muslims. Pocatello has Idaho State University, and because of that they get many transplants, and the crime associated with it.

The bad thing about having trained social workers for mental health crisises is they are unarmed. Is bringing a firearm to a mental health crisis in 90% of them? No probably not. But in that 10% if you don’t have one, that social worker is most likely going in a casket.
It all boils down to cops deal with situations 99% won’t in our lifetime. Everyone wants to arm chair quarter back but what would you really do? Cops probably don’t want to kill anybody like we wouldn’t want to, but in those moments were a weapon is present, or it’s a strong arm situation, what would you really do? Substance abuse, it’s never talked about but it’s a big part of a lot of these situations.
Sure we want these people to get help, but in the moment, these people do not see things the same way you or I do. We might think about our families, but for them that drug or alcohol is at the forefront of their mind and is in the drivers seat. You aren’t toe to toe with a person like you or I, you are toe to toe with an addict that will do ANYTHING and with that, officers deserve some credit when it comes to situational judgement.
Are they perfect? Nope, but neither are you or I. But we are all human.
