If they deliberately tried to poison those cops - stay away!

If they are too incompetent to rinse dangerous chemicals out of their food prep machinery - stay away!

Keln 38 points ago +39 / -1

Either way I wouldn't risk it. Just the thought of bleach in a shake turns the old bean.

12
Flahusky 12 points ago +12 / -0

Last check, bleach is not used to clean food service equipment due to residuals

TheDespotofCartoons 4 points ago +4 / -0

You're right, at least in the sense that it's not supposed to be.

Frankly, I firmly believe that, in light of the other incident where National Guardsmen were delivered a pepperoni and glass shard pizza, this incident with Shake Shack was deliberate.

Having said that, I can also see where a bunch of incompetent, poorly educated morons -- hopped up on fake news lies about WuFlu -- would be bleaching everything they could pry open and/or lay their hands on, including a shake machine that had probably never even been opened by a service professional for the past 6 months, because iTz eVeRyWhErE! Lock up your daughters, your fathers, your sons, it's raping everybody up in here!

Just to clarify: it's not that I believe it to be the case, just that it's at least a plausible scenario.

Yeah guys, it's totally legit that 3 cops and ONLY 3 cops got poisoned. Because some one for got to rinse the machine. No one else was poisoned because no one else got a shake from the Cop machine.

Not everyone drinks shakes with their meal, but at Shake Shack, pretty much everone drinks a shake with their meal.

Isn't it a bit leftist reactionary to denounce the entire chain, for what employees did at ONE store?

This is just like saying ALL cops are bad, because of SOME.

Many of these stores are owned by franchisees. Are you sentencing them to failure for something beyond their control?

Aren't we supposed to be better than this?

1
Siteless_Vagrant [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Aren't we supposed to be better than this?

That's what we've been doing for decades. Did it work? Nope. Fire with fire.

Dirk_Diggler 38 points ago +39 / -1

So I see a few red flags here. The first one, is that only the cops were affected, everyone has picked up on that. Another red flag is the believability of an improper rinsing. Let's say they sanitized the machine but just didn't give it a good rinse, the chemicals aren't going to be in any concentration in that machine to cause poisoning. And if the chemicals weren't even drained from the machine and you started to make shakes, what came out of that machine wouldn't have been anywhere near the right consistency to serve to anyone.

So the proof in the pudding, as it were, would be to see if there was any way the cleaning solution was added during the shake making process, which seems more plausible, if the cleaning solution was in any reasonable quantity. And to that end. It should be relatively easy, via some maths if the shakes were preserved as evidence, if the dilution amounts of the cleaner were consistent with an average dilution of what it takes to clean a machine. Like I said, the size of those machines, even if a good rinse wasn't preformed, I seriously doubt the residual amounts of cleaner would be in any toxic level.

Just my 2 cents.

STEVE_HUFFMANS_BULL 45 points ago +46 / -1

Red flag #3: FDA regulations say that all cleaners restaurants use must be food grade (eg, it’s safe to accidentally eat some). Under normal operations, there shouldn’t be a drop of anything anywhere near as caustic as bleach, so someone had to deliberately bring it in. Who did it and for what reason?

13
misterLahey 13 points ago +13 / -0

Red flag #4: at least at the ones I've been to, the employees all possess a certain trait that coincidentally permits me to reasonably gauge that there's a 0.95 probability that they are communists, incredibly racist, and prone to sociopathic acts.

12
ApprenticeParty 12 points ago +12 / -0

Red flag #5: No way they clean that machine during service. They clean it at the end of the night.

3
Side-o-Beef_Curtains 3 points ago +4 / -1

What's that Mr. Lahey?

(God, I've always wanted to use that in conversation)

Can confirm. Also a bartender. Another point, if someone got caught putting bleach on any equipment like a drink mixer, somebody with two functioning neurons would stomp a mudhole in them. It's going to contaminate the food/drink and make more work for everybody who has to re-clean it properly.

Bring back capital punishment. These degenerates would think twice if our justice system was swift and had teeth.

17
AnEndgamePawn 17 points ago +18 / -1

Won't happen until vigilantism takes over and criminals start getting shot in the streets. Then the Left will be begging for a strong police force

4
Side-o-Beef_Curtains 4 points ago +4 / -0

Vigilantism isn't taking over any time soon... I mean nobody would be STUPID enough to advocate for defunding or decommissioning police forces. That would be earth shatteringly STUPID. Oh, wait....

Let them indulge in the delusional dream of commie Chyna to the fullest. Then we give them the full wrath of America.

Definitely do not wait until there’s rioting nearby and burn them down.

10
PewPew_ThaDuK 10 points ago +11 / -1

this is bullshit. now the NYPD is not even investigating crimes against their own... wtf

8
DinosRFake 8 points ago +9 / -1

Is anyone under investigation, has anyone been fired?

If I was CEO of Shake Shack, I'd be helping police with their enquiries, apologizing at length to all customers, and be in frantic PR mode, maybe free meals for NYPD for a year, I dunno. In other words, I'd be taking this very seriously indeed, because dur poisoning customers bad.

Apparently Orange Man Bad > Poison Customers Bad. These people have lost their minds.

Agreed. “Best case” it represents shoddy & life-threatening workmanship

5
SupremeAnger 5 points ago +5 / -0

I've cleaned the machines they use in these businesses. It doesn't selectively get people sick like that. Either it's cleaned right and they're tampering with food (an act that can cause a location to shut down) or it isn't and there's multiple health code violations beyond just cleaning issues, there's no wiggle room.

6
RatioInvictus 6 points ago +6 / -0

Has anyone else noticed that certain kinds of "thorough investigation" happen almost instantaneously? E.g. Clinton email, Notre Dame, Shake Shack Poison-flavored Police-special milkshakes, etc?

2
Siteless_Vagrant [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Weird, ain't it?

6
enoughdakka 6 points ago +7 / -1

Or just find the nearest one and burn it down, call it a protest and you're good to go

I wish there were Shake Shacks where I live so I could stay away from them.

Who the fuck wanna finance a burger anyway? Fuck SS and their overpriced crap burgers.

5
Tonightm01 5 points ago +6 / -1

Not worth the risk. Especially if you are maybe getting food for a child. Or if you have a condition you might not know about.

The best piece of advice going into the future is to keep your eyes open if you are going into a place like this. Step back look at a menu for a bit.

If you see ANY BLM shit. Leave. See how staff are dealing with other costumers. Anything fishy. Leave.

Its time for people to start to become smart consumers again. Instead of blindly buying shit without thought.

5
AnAngryPotato 5 points ago +6 / -1

The fact that had absolutely no repercussions makes my blood boil.

I ate there once while attending a convention, it was meh and overpriced.

I hope Shake Shack gets whats coming to them, and the cops make a recovery with no lingering effects

3

Well that sucks. They just opened here. Oh well, I guess its Culvers and Chil fil A

3
TyrannyBuster 3 points ago +4 / -1

They're not big enough to have a store within 100 miles of my location. Let's hope it stays that way.

3
mikejones 3 points ago +3 / -0

Went to shake shack for the first time a few weeks ago. Too many things to boycott but this one will be easy

3
Trashaccount121 3 points ago +4 / -1

Wonder if any NY leftists are brave enough to drink some bleach and go to the hospital and claim they were also there, to run interference for the red flag everyone already is of "wow, literally three people who happened to be cops were the ONLY ones made sick.."

Nah, too late at this point, and it would be far too fortuitous for the world for some leftists to literally embrace the meme and drink bleach.

3
animehenat 3 points ago +4 / -1

Controversial take or not, but I'd rather not just avoid an entire food chain because some employees that work at one of the locations there did something despicable. Those people are the problem, but not the damn burgers.

Either way, that shakeshack location should be investigated. Those employees should lose their jobs, and worse. But, the same way that I think we should only blame cops who commit crimes and not all cops, I'm not just gonna blame all shakeshack locations for this.

3
July_1776 3 points ago +5 / -2

Should just walk in with a MAGA hat and request a ice cold bleach on ice.

3
AsaNisiMAGA 3 points ago +4 / -1

Their food is way too salty anyway. Tastes decent going down but on average I gain 3 lbs of water the day after eating it. Not worth it even before this happened.

Protest by blocking their entrance. Offer some 50% off coupons. Sit in a drive through and spend 10 minutes giving them a piece of your mind.

There aren't any in my area anyways.

1

No criminality here, folks. Shake Shack is actually poisoning everybody with their $5 shakes.

1

Never heard of them until yesterday.

1

So the cops weren't the only ones who got sick?

2

The cops WERE the only ones who got sick.

3
Thingthing22 3 points ago +3 / -0

How the FUCK? What the fuck? Why are the feds not on this case?

1
SuperCoolWagon 1 point ago +1 / -0

The feds are certainly corrupt...

AngryCitizen 0 points ago +3 / -3

Former fast food worker here:

  1. Those shake machines are always a problem.

  2. It is possible some moron didn’t rinse it. I’m one of those kind of morons. Except I pulled the wrong lever and dumped all the fry grease out on the floor instead of into the bucket. Twice.

  3. Once someone said the shake tastes bad they would stop serving to check it out.

So it is possible. And so is it possible they found the loophole to get cops.

Except that no one was poisoned except for the three cops. How does that work?

3
CantStumpTheTrump 3 points ago +5 / -2

Ok, so the first one would have a bit of a taint from the cleaner; not the next 2, and its awful selective about who it effected eh?
