the prison system isn't meant to rehabilitate people it's meant to make a profit..
private prisons create and fund prisons for a profit. but in order to make a profit they have to keep their prisons at a certain capacity and not fall below that capacity of prisoner. otherwise they lose money. so they create contract with whatever state they're building in that that state will make sure that their prison is always filled to a certain capacity. That means the state has a motivation to tell the cops to have the motivation to arrest more people..
and then once they're in the prison system there's no motivation to rehabilitate them into good people. rehabilitating them into good people being said once they're out of prison they won't go back. when you're running a company you want profit. And when you're running a for-profit prison you want those people to be coming back so that you can make more profit. so you do absolutely nothing to make sure that they will stay out of prison once they're sentences up and you even do things that might make them even more likely to go back to prison..
and that creates an endless cycle..
and one of the most profitable things they do in prison is use prisoners for slave labor. you saw the civil war ended slavery? No way. It ended some kinds of slavery. but if you're a prisoner you can still be a slave and you can be forced to make shoes for Nike for $0 an hour..
thats right. Colin Kaepernicks brand uses slave laborr
Recidivism is high because the bad guys are as well. Gang banging POS that should never be outside the wall because they don't participate normally in civil society,
Liberal states w/o private prisons spend hundreds of millions on your version of a prison with school and programs galore. It is a alrge pit of wasted money on feel good bullshit that is nowhere near worth the investment comparing dollars to success..
Sure, the "prison industrial complex"may be real in some places. Sure, inmates my have to get work. Cry me a river. Stop being a F UP if you don't want to get caught in the system. Prison is supposed to suck. Where I worked, its becoming a free campus full of educated criminals who game the system for early release. The door still revolves. Educated or not.

The prison system shouldn't be about rehab.
Do the crime, do the time.
You want rehab? Here's a prison job for you.
