I lived in Seattle and had my car broken into many times (the police took half a day to respond for me to report it), heard a man shot to death by the police after a car chase and pulled a weapon, witnessed robberies, wasn’t comfortable going to the outdoor ATMs on the Main Street of their largest university, saw homelessness everywhere (not including the actual homeless city south of downtown), and learned that the police are underfunded. Also, a woman in the next apartment complex over was shot by a cop in her home in front of her children which caused huge protests, she apparently had mental health issues and had called the cops herself for help. That was sad. Overall Seattle just seemed to have so much turmoil and misdirection and a large part of it seems to stem from the drastic change in wealth from Amazon and other tech companies moving in. Everyone I met who grew up in Seattle proper had moved out because of home prices skyrocketing.
