"Doctor heal thyself..." is simply good advice. You better do your homework instead of just trusting your average doctor or nurse to get something right. You could just end up on a ventilator when you should be taking a few pills, or vice versa.

When it came time for their son to go to school, he wanted to be a Dr. His parents pleaded with him to do something else. Dr's have to spend a fortune on medical school and spend years between school and interning till they can make a living. They tried to convince him to become a dentist (a lot less school and you can make very good money). But he insisted that he wanted to be a Dr.
He is in medical school now, he is also the least intelligent member of his family.
