Authorities have officially linked the crimes to the so-called “Boogaloo” movement, a self-described libertarian, tropical-shirt-wearing anti-government group that is preparing for a supposed looming civil war. The messages “Boog” and “I became unreasonable” were scrawled in blood on the hood of the vehicle, authorities said, in presumed reference to the movement. Police also recovered a patch with a Boogaloo symbol inside the van allegedly used in both crimes.
This whole thing sounds so stupid it makes me think the CIA had some hand in it. Why would self-described libertarians who wear tropical shirts think that driving over to Oakland and killing police officers or causing the sort of mayhem they alleged Carrillo originally wanted to cause, would accomplish anything at all in the middle of national riots? Why would an Air Force Sgt. risk an LE murder rap to do something that anyone with half a brain could see would not accomplish anything at all? I don't get it.
