I want to start off by saying, I am not political. Believe me when I say it. I usually dodge political discussions in general, mainly because the heat from both sides and the lack of respect the arguments receive when having a discussion.
Anyway, I frequently am a lurker of the unpopular opinion sub because I found it entertaining. The #1 thread was a user who politely shared his opinion and stated he was a black man. Surely enough, his post raked in tens of thousands of upvotes and received an outstanding amount of rewards which I have not seen before out of all my years on Reddit.
Soon enough, the thread was killed off. Moderators axed it. They previously had told the user he was fine, and even told him he shouldn’t have to provide proof (which he did) that he was a black man to have his opinion be heard.
The reasoning of removal?: “Too many posts like this, too common.”
Flat out lie.
Now, I don’t even even know why I am writing this post, especially since I tend to avoid politics in general, but, I think I have changed my mind, and have support for the right side now, I probably won’t linger around, but my support stands.
Any time I had any sort of discussion with someone who leaned left in that thread, I was harassed. None of their discussions even brought logic, or even added to the users topic. It was just flat out hatred.
When you call them out for it, they even get more riled with their hatred.
Democrats preach about putting a stop to misogyny, but here you have users who are Democrats themselves being misogynistic, and hateful just because they don’t like that people agreed with the poster of the thread.
I feel like I lost a lot of brain cells. The censorship is actually unbelievably terrifying, especially over the Internet when everything and the point of the internet is freedom.

I was generally apolitical my entire life until politics started encroaching on my own life, similar to how politics has invaded your quiet existence. It's obvious now that there is no hiding from the fight in front of us, a fight which is not one we chose but is one we must fight nonetheless.
I don't believe anyone should have to validate their skin tone to anyone to share an opinion.
Everything else is just a confirmation of everything we already knew.

Just this week Reddit moved the goalposts and changed the quarantine message on The_Donald. First it said something about us going against law enforcement... lol... now with all this stuff they'd have to ban hundreds of subs by that standard that are all "KILL ALL COPS" right now. So they just changed the reason retroactively and now hating cops is suddenly okay - But T_D is still "quarantined"...
If the left didn't have double standards, they'd have no standards at all.
I actually went into the ask sub once while I was lurking to find you guys here. Immediately I noticed a very different shift on the commentary from when The_Donald was active compared to conservatives on AskATS.

Government, big companies, even small businesses under pressure, they're all forcing every one to get political. The mobs have been clear "you're with us or against us". Big companies are censoring, and spamming with propaganda, statues ar egetting removed, films cancelled, people fired for "the wrong face expression", movies & games are shoving the politics in your face. Kids shows getting cancelled. Call Of Duty forced some political messages on all its users. Really insane... It never stops growing like a cancer, until it finally is cut off or kills its host.

I never thought I would stop using it. But it got really bad lately. It keeps forcing me to use a terrible new UI. All my favourite subs got banned. Its genuinely difficult to post stuff because each sub has so many automated rules and you can get banned from subs for hardly doing anything wrong. The frontpage is garbage now, its just anti-cop agit prop. I hate the 'Karen' meme. Nearly every sub has become about politics. You can be banned for posting videos that oppose the narrative. Even subs like unpopularopinion massively censor speech.
There are a few areas I still go. I like nootropics and a few niche communities. But it seems like people got dumber on many subs where I used to respect the people posting. I dont know where the smart people went. Some of them are on Twitter, there is good stuff there. And Im on thedonald a lot now.
Its weird to think how much culture has changed. I used to be amazed that reddit hosted 'CoonTown' and 'jailbait' for so long (I didnt use them). That was 2014 or 2015. But now every moderate right wing sub has been outright banned pretty much. I cant believe they destroyed r/T_D for a few anti cop comments and yet reddit is extremely anti cop and supports violent riots right now and its no big deal.
Many examples of this going on but most recent one infamous one, aside from today's shameful google move, was Tom Cotton's oped on the NYT.
There is a certain ego the majority of Americans have where we dont really believe that any of the evil and horrible shit that has happened throughout history and the rest of the world would ever actually happen here. We are very fortunate to have lived in such a peaceful era where the vast majority of us living today never had to live through anything like that. The curse of such peaceful times is noone really takes any of these issues that seriously. The gun debate, for instance, to 99% of people is interpreted as people who like to shoot guns vs people who are scared of guns. Its completely lost on everyone why we have the right in the first place. Same with whats going on with the election, its just a red team vs blue team sporting event to everyone and the insidious undertones and motivations that is writing on the wall for people on this sub is quack talk to everyone else. The shit the various left institutions are doing right now is all the same stuff Hitler, Lenin, Pol Pot, Mao et cetera did, its hubris to think that couldnt happen here, and it is really scary that the general public really could care less about it, and in the case with this BLM or COVID bullshit jump feet first into the cult without a second thought.
Sadly, it will need to get worse before it gets better. My entire family is Trump supporters, most of them are just living their lives, oblivious.

It's impossible to get an opinion out on Reddit. Besides the fact it is controlled by democrats, all neutral named political subs were purchased from the existing moderators for money by democrats. Republicans should have had the idea first, but no doubt it wouldn't have mattered. Even if you do express a great opinion the mob rule drowns out any voices that don't agree. It's exactly like going to a protest with an opposite opinion, the mob drowns you out, beats you up, and don't allow you to be seen.
If you are apolitical, moderate or nonpolitical there is ZERO excuses or reason not to side with the right. Or Trump.
