I've been watching these lockdowns in China reports for a month now. I am skeptical that it has anything to do with COVID at all. I suspect, and I don't have a lot to base this on, that China is either 1) having problems with virulent dissent and is trying to put down unrest or 2) China is using COVID 19 to clamp down on people the ChiComs already deemed insufficiently loyal to the regime.
I just don't think it's the virus at all. Not with the way they had North Korea screw around in the last couple of days and the skirmishes with India over a disputed border region that had been quiet for almost 60 years.
