On the other hand, the whole thing sounds so dysfunctional (why on Earth would he murder her with no cause?) that I think mental illness is in play........** In which case, the lady herself actually did the mentally sick guy actual HARM by releasing him onto the streets.**
The bleeding heart Liberals always think letting people off is "Good" and "Humane" but doesn't think about the consequence unto the public or even to the Released. If the said people is ill-prepared / not repentent, releasing one suddenly harms him, just like releasing some ill adapted 73 year old w/o money and relatives to the streets after 38 years of imprisonment is likely a bigger punishment than in prison.
I read she suspected him of stealing money from her business (she hired him for some incomprehensible reason). She then fired him for alleged theft. This led to her stabbed & bludgeoned body being discovered in the bed & breakfast she owned/operated.
Many people believe in giving second chances too...... I don't disagree, I just think the guy in question can plenty well be given "second chances" AFTER he did his prison time, the amount of time the judge said he deserved. And lady doesn't have to bend all the way to for this guy.
Agreed. The thing is, life is drenched in blood from consequences disproportionate to the action that led up to it. She didn't deserve to die. But her actions led up to her own murder. When you hear the phrase "life isn't fair" it isn't just talking about humans being big meanies. It also means even small actions done carelessly can get us killed. A 16 year old girl in my town was in the news, she got drunk, went swimming alone in the apartment pool and drowned. Did she deserve to die for underage drinking? No way. It still took her life. Don't live in fear but don't be careless either.

People assume that others have the same red lines and morals they do.
