You're right bro, I shouldn't have used such stern words. We're on the same side at the end of the day.
I think we fundamentally disagree about whether it's a good thing to do. From your perspective it seems that he should put his livelihood and reputation before his principles. I get that pragmatism. I just think we're about 5 years past that point. I don't think we have the luxury of pragmatism anymore.
Thanks and I totally get that as well. I would only disagree that appeasement and sacrificing your principles aren't always mutually exclusive.
Best case scenario: Gundy and his players handle this 100% privately. Unfortunately this became a major news story which was actually about whether or not the grown adult man would apologize to the 18 year old kid for wearing the t-shirt the kid didn't like. We can pretend it is this large national debate on free speech and expression or whatever but really it was a VERY small group of people who were going to get really butthurt by the actions of one specific middle aged man. Likely an equally small group (couple million maybe tops) on each side of the issue.
My thinking is that if you invite a fight with him you're just creating a new Kaepernick and it's even worse because people already see the free college scholarship, star status and lax academic integrity as "slavery." Thus my assessment. Our side can be just as petty with how these ultimately very symbolic and meaningless things play out.
