They get away with this crap because 80% of people don't know what is going on in the country with regards to news and politics, so it gets really frustrating when you wonder how anyone could vote for these snakes.
For most, our population is uninformed and unable to keep track of everything going on. We should leverage local government as it should be leveraged. When we vote in county reps, those should vote for state level officials and federal positions. No more than 2 tiers, but we should essentially elect those that have a full time job of assisting with the community and following political trends and voting. Their votes should also be made public.
