I’m in Melbourne Australia, and last weekend tens of thousands of people joined a protest here for #BLM, specifically the Aussie version of it which is the rate of indigenous (ie black) deaths in custody. Except none of those fucking morons have read the Commonwealth reporting on deaths in custody, which says that the rate for indigenous people is LOWER than the rate for non-indigenous people, has been for decades.... so I’m living in a world where people are protesting something that literally DOES NOT EXIST. And a 30-second google search would tell you it doesn’t exist. Tens of thousands of people didn’t care enough to do the google search, but “cared” enough to break the lockdown and protest. Meanwhile, if my husband goes back to work in the office he’ll be fined $1600. And even in Aus the media are saying #BLM protests breaking the lockdown are totally fine, but OMG TRUMP RALLIES ARE GONNA KILL EVERYBODY WHAT ABOUT MUH SECOND WAVE.
