It's supposed to be illegal. This is why the cities usually require you to get permits for protests, so they can be structured and managed to not impede the lives of others. Cops/city are just too pussified to stop it or enforce the rules they'd make any of us abide by.
It is illegal to block roads. The problem is that you have to politely ask the police to enforce the law, if they are still able to. If you have a medical emergency, there's no time to wait on the cops.
There should be no consequences for drivers that strike people deliberately blocking a road. "Protesters" are 100% responsible for anything that happens after they choose to play in traffic.
Give right of way to vehicles of course... give driver and insurance fucking immunity if these idiots decide to jump in front of cars.... dash cam industry through the roof!
