Whenever they want a spike in cases they only have to administer more tests. Number of cases is a silly metric that is useless. Deaths isn’t even reliable given that they get to include ‘probable’ deaths.
It's always hilarious when they try to scare people by saying positive cases are soaring, but then have to confirm that it's only like 5 people. It's easy to call things "soaring" when we never had many to begin with.

seriously, i received a work email going "patients hospitalized for COVID at our contracted hospital is rising!!" with a scary red graph showing the increase. if you look at the actual numbers written on the graph, it went from 10 to 12. i'm not kidding.
