Thinking about moving to Texas, what’s a good area for raising kids that’s not a liberal shithole but not in the middle of nowhere

I live in Williamson County which borders north of Travis county which is Austin. Supposedly Williamson is one of the most conservative counties in the state. So maga folks who love the Austin area tend to flock to Williamson. I see almost a night and day difference when going to businesses in both of these counties.

We bought a place in a tiny town of 400, about half an hour from a couple low-mid 5 digit cities. Instead of a terrible rumor mill, we found the most welcoming and helpful neighbors we'd ever imagined. Anytime something went wrong, they were there to help out without being asked. We ended up not staying because of the distance from our families, but I really regret not making that move permanent.

There are plenty of great suburban towns outside of the major cities of Texas. I’ll be moving from Houston down to Sugarland soon. It’s a great town with fantastic schools and about 30 minutes from downtown Houston if you need to commute.
