You know what is really scary? After crying wolf for so long if a wolf actually comes (think airborn hiv or ebola) nobody will take it seriously. Also the politicization of treatment is terrifying. Instead of cheap effective drugs we are told to use expensive lethal vents and wait for a dubious vaccine. Even peer reviewed medical journals have TDS.
And really, I feel like this all stems from cancel culture. We're the "silent majority" and so the "vocal minority" runs the show. People can't publish or push the truth because they are scared to do so. I'm not making an excuse for anybody, but I do understand where they are coming from. It is easy to see why individuals aren't willing to risk their livelihoods (most recently like Gundy) without a nationwide cultural pushback that a mass of people can act on simultaneously.
I am a medical processional and I've basically lost faith in the integrity of our journals. The Lancet/NEJM retraction was outrageous as is Dr. Fauci. People are dying over this stuff and it's all preventable.
