TIL - https://www.metacritic.com/ is a website that posts "aggregated" ratings for video games called a "Metascore"
I do flight simulators and jet engine test stands and Airborne Synthetic Aperture RADAR imaging systems - it's been years since a "video game" could hold my interest. I've written a couple - I call them "interactive demonstrations". So I'm completely out of the loop on this stuff.
But it looks like "metacritic" is actually running... wait for it... models to get their numbers.
Yet another case of "All Models Are Wrong [Some More Than Others], But Some Are Useful."
Maybe they are contracted with NIH? Paging Dr Fauci!
The discepancy in scores is because the paid journalist shills had 1 week extra to rate this "stunning and brave" game about a transexual beating a white male character to death with a golf club. They all gave it 100/100.
Today is the first day actual customers can review, hence the average score coming down.
A lot of funny vids on Youtube about it if you look.
From what I've read, I haven't played it, the whole damn game is an exercise in shaming you for enjoying the medium (specifically violent action games), and a clumsy one at that.
There was another game that did this, quite brilliantly, called Spec Ops: The Line, and its a cult hit to this day. However, it didn't go all SJW and was quite subtle in the delivery through about the first half of the game.
So the score on the left was established by people who were PAID to come up with that result, and the score on the right was established by people who had to BUY the product to come up with that result?
Yes.. they don't want to risk their early access to the next game, plus in this case they couldn't say anything bad about it due to the "stunning and brave" storyline.

It's more or less a sort of retelling of "Heart of Darkness" set in Dubai after a massive sandstorm.
yeah, great game..unlike this trash.
