They need to control people. Acting alone isn’t enough.
Same reason they can’t get their heads around “if you’re scared of WuFlu, stay home. But don’t tell me to”. No. Everyone has to sacrifice their livelihoods and lock themselves in their house just like they are. It’s all about control.
David Mitchell, an organizer of the protests, said the ultimate goal was to receive a public apology and have the menu item’s name changed. Mitchell said he hoped for an ongoing dialogue about how to move forward and better the community.
Fuck these faggots.
Apologize for what?
I'll tell you how we can move forward and be better- start ignoring black thugs and commies.
"...11-Worth Cafe, a staple of down-home breakfasts and lunches for decades, has closed and has no plans to reopen.
The cafe at 2419 Leavenworth St. near downtown Omaha faced protests over the weekend that drew a police response. By Monday, a handwritten “closed” sign appeared inside the door. And on Wednesday, the ownership family made it official.
The owners, the Caniglia family, said they had received threats via social media and had to call police twice to their family homes. In addition, they said, the noisy protests outside the cafe on Saturday and Sunday took a toll.
“Our customers and staff are of the utmost importance to our family,” the letter said. “The verbal abuse, taunting and having to be escorted to and from their cars by police and security officers for their safety for two straight days was more than we could watch them endure.”
The 11-Worth protests were prompted by a Facebook post apparently by the restaurant owner’s son, and a breakfast dish named after Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. Some protesters called for the restaurant to be shut down.
The handwritten “closed” sign remained in place on Wednesday. The restaurant was dark, with doors locked and tables sitting empty. Calls to the restaurant continued to go unanswered.
A large sign hung in one of the restaurant’s windows that says, “FOR SALE RESTAURANT EQUIPMENT.” It’s unclear how long the sign has been up and the handful of equipment items have been sitting in the storefront.
David Mitchell, an organizer of the protests, said the ultimate goal was to receive a public apology and have the menu item..."
I mean, even back in the 90s people knew if you waved a confederate flag or named anything after Robert E Lee blacks would go feral ape on you. So this is kind of on them for being dumb honestly. Its one thing to have a statue of Robert E Lee in some hick town or a school named after him. But if you open 11 restaurants and any of them is in an area where a black might be, unless you're putting out a "no blacks allowed" sign and willing to go through all the legal crap to try and defend that (lol!), why the hell you naming breakfasts after Robert E Lee? That's just not smart.
One named after Robert E. Lee(?) is says in the article. No idea. Also their son made a Facebook post that people didn't like. The text of it was not given.
The restaurant had been there ten years.
Two days of intense warfare were enough to kill the restaurant. Must have been pretty rough; police escort needed for people going in and out, for two days. They had no way of knowing when things would be normal again, if ever. There is nothing cheap about running a restaurant no matter how small, and margins are not huge. And there was the recent flu too, which was severe on restaurants.
Not even going to click through on thise click-baity title. There is never any payoff. If it were good information, it would be in the headline.... pass
Saved you the trouble. In essence the headline is accurate if dramatized. There’s likely missing details and context though in the body of it though.
But in essence A post by the restaurant owners son, and the name of one of their dishes triggered protests that saw threats made to the staff and owners and a Police response.
The Owner hasn’t made an official statement. But the Restaurant is closed and the equipment being sold off.
An organizer of the protests had a comment featured in the article that the intention wasn’t to threaten the family or drive the Restaurant out of Business but to get the name of the dish that triggered people changed.
I’m about over this cancel culture shit. How about if you don’t like it you just don’t buy it?

The customers were scared away.

That’s the gist of the article.
