Kudos! That was a lot of typing! I stopped looking for reason and logic from a leftist a long time ago.

I know. I have had to take this attitude with siblings who I had previously considered intelligent. Love them still? Yes, certainly. Respect them? Not so much. It does get easier once you face it.

My standard answer for people who asked me if I cared about black lives was, "I care about them as much as they care about me."

I have found over the course of my life that sentence terminates annoying discourse such as you describe. Your friend was brought up from infancy with a belief system skewed by a parent with "issues". God only knows what caused his old man to buy the party line of "blacks are still opressed" when they haven't been for the past fifty years if not longer.

My advice to you is to chalk your friend up as a lost cause and move on. You'll only frustrate yourself trying to convert a zombie. Technically, your friend probably hasn't had an original thought in his entire life. He's been programmed by his Dad.

The Left summarized: Feelings > Facts.

You cannot reason people out of positions they didn't reason themselves into.

It's emotions based, he is excited and happy about whats happening, anything to take from that, takes from the buzz.

I was discussing something similar with some friends yesterday. I came to the conclusion that most leftists operate emotionally instead of logically. You can not reason with emotion.

It feels good to think you are right.

It is painful to admit you are wrong.

Some people choose to ignore anything that may cause that good feeling to go away. They are simply too afraid of the pain.

Tl:dr Debate, conversation and civility is over.

So I think that you just took the Red Pill again. Don't believe the Ben Shapiro crap that asserts that facts don't care about your feelings. The truth is that their feelings burn buildings and beat people to death.

So long as there's the slightest possibility that these losers are going to get more free $|-|it on the other side of this, they won't listen to reason.
