I know a lot of nurses. I gather it's a thankless job for the most part and that the new graduates are put through hell by seasoned nurses because it's a tradition to do so when acclimating to being a full time on the job nurse. So there's a lot of unhappiness compensated for by a veneer of forced positivity to keep from cracking up.

Pretty much everything is a thankless job, so I don't really have any pity for them. Many of these nurses are the same people that will talk down on tradesmen while in the same breath demanding the HVAC guy/whatever get's it done right now because they are slightly incovenienced.

The most thankless job, IMO, is being a machinist because you have nothing without them. No fancy machines, no precision medical devices, and primative tools at best. There would be no nuts and bolts to put together without them but are often treated as nothing more than a green button pusher.

I' ll agree that there are a lot of thankless jobs. Very few people know what machinists do and some don't even realize the profession exists. But without your profession, man would never have walked on the moon -- so you've much to be proud of -- even if it goes unacknowledged by most.
