I learned about in High School in Texas but can understand that other states might have skipped it. We also probably spent a lot of extra time on the Alamo. Never did we celebrate it like a holiday though.

Fun fact my high school flag was the plain Rebel Flag. We were the Jack C. Hays Rebels.

Its a state holiday for a couple of states and I'm sure after this year a lot more. So some states teach it, but that doesn't mean they still remember what it's about.

to be clear. in the south in black communities it is a major holiday. celebrated like july 4th. i had never heard of it before coming to texas though.
