Not as cheap as you'd think, but pretty reasonable compared to other places I have lived. I don't often buy steak as I'm on a budget, but I can still fit them in now and again for my husband and I.
Probably only Austin is full-blown SJW. San Antonio, Houston and Dallas went for Hillary in 2016 but I don't get that same extreme vibe I get from Austin,The counties that include Fort Worth, Lubbock, Amarillo, and even Corpus Christi went for Trump, so not every Texas city is a hopeless dem shithole (at least not yet).
The inner cities are like that but the suburbs of every one of those cities is red except maybe for Austin. No self-respecting conservative is going to live in the liberal hell hole that is "downtown".
And the only state with its own power grid. When an EMP strike comes, the rest of the nation is crippled and Texas will just restore its power and get back to work.
It's a great place. We have our own electric grid, our own ability to produce food and energy. You can go into a gun store and walk out with an AR15 (when they're in stock) in less than 30 minutes. But it is hot and frequently humid. I mow my lawn, which isn't that big, and I'm drenched. And that's not because I'm outta shape or overweight, I'm just stupid because I don't get it done in the morning before it heats up. I've lived in many states and this one is the best for me.
Damn you Texas why are you so based, I'm jealous
I'm moving there, and I'm Canadian
I'm tempted to follow you my Canuck brother.. good luck getting armed here in Canada.. or legally using it for defense if you have one.
Buy boots and a solid pickup truck; you'll fit right in.
spez: Houston (suburbs) has really decent people all around - a huge city with a small town feel. Stay away from Austin.
A lot of foreigners in Austin. Always carry when I have to go there
I am extremely jelly right now.
Was just talking about this recently.
Be forewarned: Every fucking major city in Texas is a liberal SJW stronghold.
No kidding. Hell, Houston is the Gay Mecca of the South. Small town Texas is awesome though.

Paid $25 for an awesome 20 ounce rib eye last night. Was truly awesome.

The major cities are Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley metroplex-- they are ALL left. And pretty hard-core left at that.
As a Houston resident there are a lot of MAGA people here. They just aren't vocal about it.

Move to the panhandle or further west if you want dry air.
